We are astonished.
The level of giving and caring, serving and sharing this holiday season is unlike any we've seen in many years. The opportunity to provide for people in need throughout the community was provided to every student and staff member throughout the past six weeks and the result has been outstanding. Sixty-two acts of kindness and generosity will have been performed by the end of the month.
The act of giving to the community or to people in need is not necessarily innate. It's not something we come by naturally; rather, we build this trait. By nature, childhood behavior shifts from a more selfish focus to an increased tendency to consider the benefits to others over time. The best way to encourage this maturing is to lead by example - and our staff, as well as the LCS families, have done an amazing job of this.
Literally, hundreds and hundreds of people in need this winter will fare a little better thanks to the generosity of our students and their mentors. And our students have reaped rewards as well - experiencing the joy of giving, practicing empathy, and having fun participating in a school project away from their desks!
While we cannot measure the impact of this season of caring, we would very much like for you to be aware of the efforts. Take a moment to view the video below by clicking the play arrow. And in the meantime, we thank you for raising great kids, who are sure to be great and giving adults.
Happiest of holidays to you!
