We just granted our 400th Wish!

400TH WISH GRANTED!

Our 400th wish was granted to Daniel, who was nominated by staff at Elderwood at Cheektowaga. On a beautiful August day, a few family members joined Daniel as he fulfilled his dream to go fishing on Lake Erie once again.

A happy, memory-making day was enjoyed by all, but most of all, Daniel was able to hold the fishing pole in his hands once again and feel the breeze on his face while out on the water. We thank Excalibur Leisure Skills Center for their assistance with this wish granting.

We believe you are never too old to re-engage in a hobby! Thank you to all of you who support Senior Wishes so we may continue to bring joy to our seniors and remind them that they are not forgotten!

NEW! HERO Box Sponsorships

Once again this year we will be distributing HERO boxes to our 'senior' Veterans. Each box is filled with patriotic items, and personalized to the recipients' service. Sponsorships start at $150 for one box. Major sponsorships are $1,000. All sponsors will be recognized on the inside of the box cover and in a flyer. For more information on sponsoring click here

Nominate a Veteran 65+ for HERO Box!

One of the highlights of our year is having the opportunity to meet some of the men and women who have served our country. Once again, we will be distributing HERO boxes to our senior veterans. Preference will be given to WWII and Korean Veterans, but any veteran 65 and older may be nominated. Boxes will be delivered the week of Veterans Week.

Veterans may be living independently or in a care facility. We are thrilled to be expanding this program to residents of Monroe County this year! To nominate a senior by OCTOBER 7th click here

Rachael E. Baskerville, Esq.

Rachael is an attorney at Gibson, McAskill & Crosby, LLP, where her practice includes the defense of casualty and negligence matters including, motor vehicle accidents, premises liability, products liability, construction site accidents, and municipal liability claims.

Diane Deinhart

Diane is Vice President of Strategic Partnerships at Nova Healthcare Administrators, Diane is accountable for Nova’s relationships with client partners, brokers, and internal stakeholders across the Independent Health family of companies. In addition, she has direct oversight of Nova’s compliance, regulatory and facilities departments.

Kelly Barrett Sarama, Esq.

Kelly is the Director of Development & Communications at the Center for Elder Law & Justice (CELJ). Previously, Kelly served as a Supervising Attorney on CELJ’s health care team, where she represented clients in appeals and grievances involving Medicaid, Medicaid Managed Long Term Care, Medicare, and private health insurance companies.

Marcie Hartung

Marcie Hartung is Vice President, Commercial Banking with Bank on Buffalo. Marcie brings nearly 15 years of regional banking experience and is a graduate of the University at Buffalo and a resident of Orchard Park. “I’m looking forward to meaningfully contribute to Senior Wishes and its mission. I’m excited about the challenge and responsibility of helping the organization to accomplish its goals.”

WHAT'S COMING UP?

November - December 2022

Before you know it - we will be preparing for our "Simple Wishes for the Holidays" program. Last year all residents at two local nursing homes received gifts, as well as 167 seniors living independently. We are seeking nominations for seniors who have a difficult time over the holidays due to isolation, lack of family or health issues. They can request something they want or need up to $50 value.
