A Note From Our Executive Director |

Friend,
As I begin my tenure as the Executive Director at Rebuilding Together Montgomery County, I am struck by the collective enthusiasm for our mission that I see from staff and board members, volunteers, donors and community partners. Joining the team amidst a time of great change for both our organization and our greater community makes me especially grateful to have such a passionate team by my side as we navigate these unprecedented times together.
The COVID-19 pandemic and economic turmoil that has gripped our nation has put many of our friends and neighbors in tough situations. Now more than ever, the homeowners we serve desperately need us. I am excited to announce that, thanks to newly implemented COVID-19 safety policies and procedures for staff, homeowners and volunteers, we are beginning to safely return to our essential home repair work.
I also want to take note of the conversations on racial justice that have been occurring across the country. The homeowners we serve, many of whom are people of color, deserve safe, comfortable and dignified living spaces. The work we do helps to realize this vision.
Thank you for you being an unwavering supporter of Rebuilding Together Montgomery County. I look forward to working in partnership with you to serve the most vulnerable homeowners in our community.

From the beginning, we've taken COVID-19 seriously. We acted quickly; before local leadership enacted the stay home order, we asked team members to work remotely and postponed all on-site repair activities. The safety of our team, homeowners, volunteers and partners continues to be our top priority. We will continue to closely follow all state mandates and health protocols. |

Welcome, Nancy!
We give a warm welcome to Nancy Floreen, our incoming Board President. Nancy has a long history of serving Montgomery County residents in a variety of capacities, including as a member of the Montgomery County Council from 2002 - 2018, a member of the Montgomery County Planning Board from 1986 - 1994 and as Mayor of Garrett Park from 2000 - 2002.

Thank You, Brian!
After six years of board service, Brian Pettit completed his term as Board President at the end of June. We can't thank Brian enough for his leadership and for the many ways he and the Pettit Family Charitable Foundation have supported RTMC’s mission over many years.

Exciting Projects Underway |
|
We have some exciting projects in the pipeline, and there's one, in particular, that we want to share with you. Rebuilding Together Montgomery County will be part of an exciting new collaboration to establish The Emanuel House. Located in Gaithersburg, the primary goal of The Emanuel House is to provide permanent housing in a supportive, shared housing setting and to connect marginalized young adult mothers and their children to the larger community, as they move toward self-sufficiency.
Other partners in the collaboration include the National Center for Children and Families (NCCF), Montgomery County Government through its Young Adult Rapid Rehousing Program, Mr. Steven D. Hudson, Emory Grove United Methodist Church (EG), Mill Creek Parish United Methodist Church (MCP), and other volunteers, including from Shady Grove Presbyterian Church (SGPC).

We Urgently Need Warehouse Space |

We are in dire need of warehouse storage space to store the materials we use to keep homes safe for Montgomery County's residents. We are looking for 1,000 - 2,500 sq. ft. of either donated or deeply discounted space. If you know or anyone you know can help, please contact our Executive Director, Maury Peterson.
