Greetings!

You’ve been on the frontlines throughout the pandemic – taking care of people and providing essential services. It’s been stressful and sometimes dangerous, and too many of us have not received the pay, protection and benefits we deserve.

Well, we’ve had enough and we are demanding action by the Maryland General Assembly, calling for passage of the Maryland Essential Workers Protection Act. It would:
  • Mandate $3 per hour hazard pay for workers who must work in person during a health emergency

  • Guarantee paid time off for bereavement leave or for workers who must quarantine

  • Ensure you have the right protective equipment and a safe workplace.
These are basic rights that you deserve! But right now in Annapolis, the business community is ganging up to defeat or water down the legislation. They are saying things like “Hazard pay is a reward for frontline workers,” when the truth is that hazard pay is necessary to offset increased expenses workers have incurred since the start of the pandemic. Don’t allow their scare tactics to be the only input legislators hear, causing them to turn their backs on you and all of our essential workers.

The best action you can take is to make your voice heard. Please take just a minute to send an email to key legislators. Click here! Your voice can make a difference, so please do your part and help us pass the Maryland Essential Workers Protection Act!
