And the Award Goes to....
Best of Utah Mind & Body 2020
Fit to Recover Awards:
Best Addiction Recovery
Best Bootcamp
Best Weight Training Instruction
Best Fitness Inspiration
Best Fitness Trainer
This is a huge honor for Fit To Recover, and we know it is all because of our community that we have built together; the collective "us" rather than one person or building.
We were one of the top businesses for the amount of categories placed.
Thank you all for believing in us and making FTR what it is!
FITNESS
Transitioning back to (somewhat) "normal"
With our New Lead Trainer!
Vickie Shaw is FTR's new Lead Trainer! Vickie brings extensive experience in not only the fitness world, but also the recovery sphere. Vickie is the Director of Case Management at Brighton Recovery Center and has been with FTR for nearly two years as a trainer. Vickie always makes people feel safe and valued, and encourages them inside and outside of the gym. We all love her workouts, her heart, and her energy. We are so excited to have her leading our fitness pillar!
Time to See You in Person Again!

We are slowly making the transition from the virtual world to outdoor workouts for our community and members. We are still offering the Zoom classes but we are modifying the schedule and limiting the amount of people in our in-person classes.

For in-person classes:
  • You MUST sign up for the class with the MindBody App
  • We are limiting classes to 10 people
  • They will take place in the park next to FTR (not Sugarhouse Park)
  • If you have any trouble signing in please contact Kate at 801-931-7589 and she will be happy to assist you.
  • If possible please arrive ten minutes early to class. Following the guidelines, we will be taking temperatures when you arrive and filling out a quick questionnaire.
Member Spotlight
David Valdini has been with FTR consistently for 8 months. He is a supporter through service (cleaning up the gym), always showing up on Zoom and park workouts, and always being kind to the new person. He is moving to North Carolina at the end of the month and will be greatly missed. We love you, David!
NUTRITION/Food to Recover
Needing some Kitchen Inspiration or Guidance?
Every Sunday, our dietitian, Rose, posts meal ideas for your week! Then, she provides a grocery list for one meal and guides you through that recipe via Zoom on Monday at 6:30PM.
And, if your meals are feeling a little lonely lately, or you are just craving connection like the rest of us, join us for a community meal together on Tuesday nights at 6:30 via zoom. Just bring your meal, we'll provide good company, good conversation, and good vibes.
Food to Recover Garden

Our Food to Recover Garden is growing!
Every year, our garden is a reminder of what a little TLC can do for a small and mighty seed. It inspires us to plant our own "seed" of Recovery; to nurture it, celebrate it's growth, surround it with others who are growing, and benefit from the fruits of our labor.
It also further connects us to our food and allows our Food to Recover participants to prepare food straight from the garden!
Keep an eye out for our growing buddies and when harvests are offered!

Shout out to Dietitian Rose, Kate Losser, and Tessa Acker for making it happen! And to Ike for fixing the sprinkler.. team effort!
Member Spotlight
Shout out to member Henry Warmath. Henry has been consistent in showing up to group meals. He always shows up to connect with people, always has a smile on his face, and contributes such positivity to our community (even via a screen)! Thank you for being you, Henry!
CREATIVE EXPRESSION
Parking Lot Jam Sessions

Our Creative Arts pillar has moved the music group to the FTR parking lot. Safe and social distancing and limiting the group to ten people total and still offering the Zoom option for those who want to meet virtually still.

It has been very successful so far; we're filling the in person class to capacity and having people attend through Zoom as well. They have been hard at work creating music that is inspired by images and messages that our FTR community shared with them while in isolation. The music portrays how this pandemic has affected their recovery and day to day existence.
MISSION: FTR's mission is to provide people in recovery from drug and alcohol misuse with a safe place to connect through exercise, nutrition, creative expression and community service.
