We’re All Aboard for this Announcement

Champaign County welcomed Senator Durbin, Congresswoman Budzinski and U.S. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg this week to announce funding for the Curtis Road Underpass in Savoy and to learn about transportation innovation research at UIUC.

Thanks to the support of Senators Durbin and Duckworth, Congresswoman Budzinksi, the Illinois Department of Transportation helmed by Secretary Omer Osman, the Village of Savoy and Secretary Buttigieg, the Curtis Road Underpass will transform the intersection of Dunlap Avenue and Curtis Road. The finished project will reduce emergency response times, support multi-modal transportation and improve the quality of life in Champaign County.

The Curtis Road Underpass is a Champaign County First priority project that the community has advocated for several years. Champaign County First, organized by the Chamber, is a public-private coalition that advocates with a united front on economic development and infrastructure projects that, when completed, will benefit the community. We are thrilled to hear this announcement and look forward to the project’s successful completion.
