Dear Alumni,
This year you have gone above and beyond – thank you for supporting Tougaloo College! Your contributions for scholarships, academics, IT, and infrastructure total more than $952,000! Alumni giving is on track to finish the fiscal year strong not only in the amount of money raised but also a strong showing in the number of alumni who give.
Alumni are the only permanent stakeholders at an institution of higher learning. We, the alumni, are critical to our alma mater’s future and the hopes for eaglets of tomorrow. Tougaloo College remains relevant, vibrant, and leading in spaces where academic excellence is revered and equity for all communities is championed. Despite our noted challenges, there is good news!
- Students continue to excel at all levels—participating in research-based projects, authoring articles in refereed publications, serving on boards of national organizations, volunteering within the community, and entering prestigious graduate and professional schools, upon graduation.
- Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett was welcomed as our Commencement Speaker who challenged our graduates to remain committed to the quest for justice and equality.
- The College has secured $8 million in NIH funding to support the development of a new biomedical research facility, introduced the Robert L. Smith, M.D. Center of Excellence in Rural and Community Health, obtained $2.4 million in grants for water and sewer infrastructure enhancements and launched a community-focused Cybersecurity Clinic with sponsorship from Google.

The Carnegie Classification® recently recognized Tougaloo College as a Research Colleges and Universities, one of 26 HBCUs holding this distinction.
