It's never too early to prepare for the future. (Nov. 2018)

Celebrating what we all have in common rather than what divides us
A new pilot approach & new global research:
Today, millions of people like us are going about our lives with absurdly inaccurate perceptions of each other. C ombating "us-versus-them" polarization may be one of the greatest relational, business, and political challenges of the digital age.

  • How do we restore mutual understanding?
  • How do we reconnect fellow citizens across the dividing lines of difference?
  • How do we effectively counter this polarization (that we ourselves contribute to)?
  • How do we do this at scale?

These are the questions that More in Common is asking in the United States as well as in France, Germany and the United Kingdom. More in Common is a new international initiative, set up in 2017 to help us build communities that are stronger, more united, and more resilient to the increasing threats of social division - bringing us together around all that we have in common.
This report shows that despite America’s profound polarization, the " middle" is far larger than conv entional wisdom suggests, and the wings of progressivism and conservatism are far smaller. Our current polarization is not simple, but nor is it insoluble. If we understand it, we can fix it.
There are a number of important gaps in our psychological systems of thought that underly the populist rise in Europe and the United States. Maybe we should be adopting a more understanding/inclusive stance informed by social, scientific evidence...to be more effective, together.

 We're always practicing something.
What we practice grows stronger.
