Kicking Off The School Year!

August 19, 2025

The halls of West Dallas Community School came alive last week as we welcomed back more than 250 students for the first days of school. Our youngest PreK and Kindergarten students arrived on Wednesday, and our first through eighth graders joined the fun on Thursday. Smiling faces filled the classrooms — along with a few tears (from students and parents… we won’t say who cried more). We are so happy to have everyone back!

As we celebrate 30 years of WDCS, we’re expectant for another year of learning, growing, and sharing God’s goodness with our students. Because of your generous support, we are able to provide an excellent education and an environment where our students are able to thrive. We are so grateful that you are part of our mission, and we are excited for the 2025-2026 school year.

Celebrating 30 Years of West Dallas Community School!

This year marks our 30th anniversary, and we are excited to celebrate with you in the coming months.

God has been incredibly faithful to West Dallas Community School, and we are confident He will continue to bless this community and empower our work for many years to come.

Stay tuned for announcements about how you can celebrate with us.

Partnering with Providence

30 years ago, Robin Lewis, the founder of Providence Christian School, started WDCS with a heart to bring the same level of excellent Christian education to the children of West Dallas.

Our faculty and staff took a break from in-service and enjoyed breakfast with the Providence staff, and we connected over shared experiences between our sister schools.

We are grateful for their hospitality and for their long-standing partnership!

North Texas Giving Day

Please support West Dallas Community School on North Texas Giving Day. Early giving opens on August 28th.

Thank You, PCPC

Volunteers from Park Cities Presbyterian Church cleaned and prepared our building for the upcoming year.

This group volunteers every August to help us get ready for the start of school. We are so grateful for their faithful support!

A Word from Our Head of School

The stories of our students and families are woven into the fabric of our school. As we celebrate our thirty year anniversary, we recognize God's faithfulness in forming and growing our community.

By sharing thirty stories throughout the year, we hope to honor those who made our mission possible and those who have been impacted by WDCS. We invite you to follow along as we share these stories via social media, email, and on our website.

Gratefully,

Sam Turner

Nikki Washington

Mrs. Washington has been a treasured part of our faculty for 22 years. She has taught many Kindergarten classes, with a few years of Pre-K mixed in. Here are some of her reflections on her time at WDCS.

"I have taught five students from one family. A few years ago, I attended the high school graduation of the oldest, while holding the youngest sibling in my arms. She is now in fourth grade. My greatest accomplishment has been teaching generations of siblings and watching them grow from children into beautiful young adults.

I am so proud of our students' accomplishments. At WDCS, we are giving them the foundation they need to succeed and encouraging them to go as far as they can go."
