The Message this Week

Preaching Text: Genesis 6:5-22; 8:6-12; 9:8-17

Landing in the same old place, but are we the same old people? Noah, his wife, his sons and sons wives are saved from the destruction of the flood. Yay! But how will they feel knowing they are the only survivors? Certainly they have been changed by their time on the ark, by the weeks of unending rain...how will they move faithfully forward?

Gracious God, help us to move faithfully forward in spite of all the ways we are challenged and changed by storms, by separations, and by our own lack of understanding. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Festival of the Vine is happening this weekend. Please allow extra time for parking this Saturday, September 12. Our lot will be closed to the public. It will not affect Sunday morning.

• Help us to stop the destruction of the earth and begin a work of healing.
• From what often seems like chaos and corruption in our government, raise up leaders who will work to preserve and protect every single person and all the world.
• Hold all who suffer loss, grief, pain, trauma, and challenges of every kind, especially Keith W, friend of Renee Riani. Assure us that you are not a God who destroys, but a God who restores.
• As we begin our new program year, our children return to school, remind us that you walk with each of us. Strengthen and inspire our work, join us in our play, and hold us in our rest.
• We praise you for all the saints who have gone before us, living out their faith in the midst of turbulent times. Strengthen us by their example to persist in love and service in the face of uncertainty.

God who created all that is, we place all for whom we pray, both aloud and in the silence of our hearts, into your loving arms. Amen.
