A Message from Sam Gray, President & CEO
Boys & Girls Clubs of Hartford
As the Coronavirus pandemic fills our lives with uncertainty, I wanted to take this opportunity to check in with you. First and foremost, I want to wish everyone in the Boys & Girls Clubs family safety and good health, and express my sincere gratitude for your support of our mission. In times of crisis, we lean on our network to get through, and just like we are a support system for the children and families in Greater Hartford, YOU are part of our support system. We appreciate you, and are thinking of you and your families during this time.

Second, I wanted to let you know what we’re doing at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Hartford to engage our kids while schools and our Clubs are closed. To keep kids learning and developing, we have created virtual experiences, including crafts, science experiments, brain teasers and daily challenges they can do while at home. We’ve also adapted our College and Career curriculum to a virtual format for our teens, to help keep them focused on building their resumes and preparing for the workforce.

Throughout the many trials and tribulations in our 160 year history, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Hartford prides itself on being a constant beacon of hope and strength for our kids and families who need us the most. COVID-19 will inevitably go down in history as one of those challenges, but we refuse to let that distract us from our work and the youth we serve. We will continue to be flexible and adaptable in this rapidly changing situation, and will be here to support the Greater Hartford families who rely on us in any capacity we can. Once again, I thank you for your support.

Be well,
Feeding Our Families:
Hartford Public Schools Meal Program
During the first critical week of school closures in Hartford, we were proud to partner with Hartford Public Schools to support meal distribution to kids who rely on the school system for breakfast and lunch. Our Asylum Hill, Southwest and Trinity Clubs served as grab and go sites. It's Electric!
Earlier this month, as part of our Clubs’ career exploration initiatives, our kids had some fun playing with electronics using Snap Circuits!  Snap Circuits is a safe electronics kit that illustrates how electronics work and allows kids to use their creativity to create new inventions.
Knowledge of electronics is helpful in many different careers, including the following fields our Club kids & teens have expressed interest in:
  • Automotive
  • Engineering
  • Construction trades
  • Architecture
  • Medical & Medspa technology
  • Product design & manufacturing
