Resiliency Coordinator 1 (adaptation) - Description of Duties:
This position entails assisting with research, analysis, and technical assistance regarding sea level rise adaptation and risk mitigation; assisting with outreach and engagement surrounding sea level rise , storm surge, and flooding risks; and assisting with intergovernmental coordination to advance climate resilience of the built and natural environment.
Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree and one year of professional experience in climate adaptation, urban planning, environmental science, engineering, floodplain management, sustainability, or a related field are required.
The ideal candidate should have the following:

  • Knowledge and experience in adaptation to and mitigation of climate change hazards.
  • Professional administrative and/or project management skills, particularly in the areas of climate adaptation planning, sea level rise science and impacts, hazard mitigation, urban planning, and floodplain or water management, is highly preferred. 
  • Excellent analytical, research and writing skills.
  • Professional experience with tools that support graphic and written communication, such as GIS, Adobe Suite, and PowerPoint.
  • Good understanding of public policy is preferred.
Resiliency Coordinator 2 (strategic outcomes)- Description of Duties:
This position entails assisting with coordination of partners and stakeholders, and being the point person for tracking implementation of office initiatives and policies associated with the Resilient 305 Strategy for Greater Miami and the Beaches, GreenPrint, the Sea Level Rise Strategy , BE 305 , and other related programs. This position will assist driving and coordinating innovative solutions to sustainability challenges and resilience shocks and stresses through the implementation of these plans with the support of Office staff and participation of a variety of internal and external stakeholders such as other County departments, not-for profit organizations, local, regional and state organizations, and others. Also, this position entails identifying and connecting synergies of these plans and associated initiatives in order to help coordinate and accelerate implementation, drive effective outcomes, and improve the effectiveness and success of implementation and the overall results.
Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree. Two years of professional experience in environmental science, sustainability, ecology, biology, engineering, energy management, sustainability, climatology, urban planning or a related field are required.

The ideal candidate should have the following:

  • Knowledge and experience in technical urban and environmental sustainability and resilience issues, such as climate change and sea level rise, energy and fuel efficiency and green buildings, waste and water conservation and management, sustainable urban planning and development, sustainable transportation strategies and modes, economic development, and socio-economic issues are highly preferred.
  • Excellent analytical, research, strategic thinking and writing and verbal communication skills.
  • Six sigma, project management, critical thinking and problem solving certification and experience are preferred.
About the Office:
The Office of Resilience collaborates both internally with County departments and externally with government agencies, universities, business groups, non-profit organizations to facilitate countywide resilience and environmental sustainability.
