Cardinal Dolan has recently retired as Archbishop of New York, after 17 years. His leadership in New York and the nation on the life issues has been consistently exemplary, from valiant public protest against New York state’s tragic promotion of abortion and assisted suicide, to the reiteration of the late Cardinal O’Connor’s promise that any pregnant woman in need can come to the archdiocese for help; to the creating of the Pro-Life Commission; to support of organizations like the Sisters of Life and Good Counsel homes, often with appearances at their events. When he first came to New York, Archbishop Dolan wrote a note to us saying that our founder, J.P. McFadden, was “his hero.” And now he is ours!
