We're just wild about Warhol.
Warhol-mania is upon us as we creep closer to the opening of the "Andy Warhol Portfolios: A Life in Pop" exhibit opening June 3 at the Cleve Carney Museum of Art at the McAninch Art Center ("the MAC"). Today launches the unveiling of our iconic "Pop Art Challenge" images at the Wheaton Public Library--please join us on the West Plaza today at 4:30 p.m. to celebrate.
I admit to a little Warhol-mania myself. Come visit us at our new office where our hospitality room is plastered with Warhol posters. We have a Warhol wall in our workspace... and here I am at home, showing off my Warhol t-shirt (customized with a snip here and a snip there). And I saw the artists painting the fire hydrants this weekend, a project of the Fine & Cultural Arts Commission!
In the words of Andy himself, "Being good in business is the most fascinating kind of art."

Community Unveils Pop Art Challenge at Wheaton Public Library
Please plan to attend Wheaton Welcomes Warhol, the unveiling of Wheaton's answer to COD's Pop Art Challenge, when we gather on the library's West Plaza at 4:30 p.m. today. We'll celebrate the four-image poster created to support the upcoming Andy Warhol Portfolios: A Life in Pop, an exhibit opening in June at the McAninch Art Center on the campus of the College of DuPage. Local artist Geoff Bevington recreated images of four prominent local figures in the Warhol style, images that will be revealed this afternoon.
This project was a collaboration between COD and our Chamber members. Kudos to our Arts, Business & Culture (ABC) Committee, chaired by Allison Orr of the Downtown Wheaton Association and including representatives from the following organizations: The Wheaton Public Library (thank you, Bari Ericson, for all your hard work); Wheaton Drama; The DuPage Symphony; Edward Jones; Morna Freitas Photography; Wheaton College Artist Series; DuPage County Board; Cantigny Park; DuPage Art League; Glen Ellyn-Wheaton Chorale; the Wheaton Park District; the MAC and the College of DuPage; and the City of Wheaton Fine & Cultural Arts Commission.

Mayor Phil Suess shared remarks at The Protein Spot's first anniversary celebration. Wheaton Chamber Board of Directors member Juan Rubio offered samples to folks who came out to celebrate his milestone anniversary, and there was plenty of mixing and mingling as a harpist played.
Mayor Suess made another appearance on Saturday, May 20, as the City of Wheaton celebrated the ribbon-cutting for the final phase of the downtown streetscape program. Our own Stacie Dovalovsky, Wheaton Chamber Board of Directors member, of Primera Engineers and Primera's CEO Erin Inman were there for the fun. Primera was a major player in the streetscape development.
