A lot has happened these past few weeks. As a nation, we’ve had amazing highs, shocking lows, and everything in between. For our students, this all played out over the ongoing challenges of remote learning, social isolation, and pandemic stress. That’s why we at EWDC are turning the page and looking to the future. And because of you, it’s brighter than ever.

Your support during our end of year campaign exceeded all expectations. I mean, the EWDC family came out in force:

  • 39% growth over last year
  • 4,000 books donated
  • 206 donors

But that’s not where the story ends. In fact, it’s just the beginning.  Here is what this incredible outpouring of support will accomplish over the next 6 weeks:

  • 30 more kids being matched with mentors
  • 1,000+ more e-books available to Power Readers students
  • 4 Virtual StoryTime events
  • 2 Parent Workshops on Preparing for Parent-Teacher Conferences and Building Literacy Skills at Home
  • 7 book distribution events

In other words, EWDC’s end-of-year campaign was about more than just dollars in the bank and books on a shelf. It was about putting smiles on children’s faces, giving a lifeline to families in need, and investing in our communities’ futures. It was about us working together to give students the opportunity to thrive. Thank you.

In the weeks to come you will learn more about these amazing plans and how you can play a part in a child’s future. For now, I just want to say thank you for believing in EWDC, our mission, and our students.

Here is to an amazing year of reading!
