Chamber Members-
The Fourth of July brings mixed emotions for me each year. On a positive note, the celebration of freedom and liberty in this country is on display in many ways. Just the thought of what our forefathers gave to fight in 1776 so that we could have what we have today is an awesome thing to ponder. If you haven't seen "Old Glory" (the flag symbolized in the National Anthem) which is on display at the American History Smithsonian Museum in Washington, DC, be sure to do so if you get to our nation's capital.
On the flip-side are the sometimes-uncontrolled fireworks displays around neighborhoods at all hours of the night. Leading up to and through the fourth, bottle rockets, M-80's and other assorted POPS can be disturbing to dogs or other pets. As a kid, my step-father (who was a policeman) brought home pictures of accidents that were the result of firecrackers gone awry; and I had friends who served overseas in various wars that felt trauma associated with whistles going overhead. It was too much for them to remember the times they lay in a bunker not knowing where that missile would land. I've been a fan though of professional fireworks displays like the one at the Colerain Township & after a Reds game on Friday night.
Baseball, hot dogs, apple pie, and ?....that's right Chevrolet. We all remember that motto, don't we? This year we have baseball coming to Colerain in the form of a Vintage 1869 rules game between the Colerain Chamber and the Cincinnati Reds Hall of Fame sponsored Red Stockings. Colerain Park should be filled with families and spectators supporting a sport that's been around for over 150 years! Free root beer will be available as will free ice cream complements of UDF and Homemade brands.
Finally, I have to give a shout out to everyone that helped put on the Hometown Hero event, to those who came out to support it financially, and to our members that attended. This year we were able have over 200 in attendance and while it was hot, the adjustments made were nearly flawless. THANK YOU for your continued support of that event! If you know of someone who should be honored, the nomination should be sent to me directly with a couple of paragraphs about the individual's contribution to our community.
Happy Fourth of July to you, your family and your staffs.

ARCHITECTURAL FIRM GBBN HIGHLIGHTS TREE CANOPY AT WATERSHED INITIATIVE OPEN HOUSE
|
|
Hosted by architectural firm GBBN, the Watershed Initiative open house highlighted the Tree Canopy displaying work across Colerain in conjunction Team Up to Green Up, Rumpke, A Greater Northbrook and Colerain Township. On display were renditions of land use options for the space available in potentially unused parking lot area. Collaboration is the key and bringing together phenomenal resources like this, highlight a community that is working together! The technology advances shown on I-pads and projectors allowed us to see where hot-spots intersect, larger tree canopies and socio-economic diversity...way cool!

June 16- 2022 Hometown Hero Event
Willow Event Center
The pictures above are just a few taken at our 2022 Hometown Hero event held at the Willow Event Center. The Colerain Chamber celebrated five individuals that have contributed significantly to our community over the years including three service veterans and local muralist Josh Stout. Hamilton County probate Judge Ralph Winkler (pictured with chamber board chair Susan Bennett & past chair David Denny) was also recognized and answered some questions from emcee and WCPO sports anchor Marshall Kramsky. Food trucks, music and more created a fun atmosphere as seen by all the smiling faces! A wonderful event!
