Maple Sugaring: A Labor of Love
Land's Sake's maple sugaring process is done the old-fashioned way: tapping trees and collecting sap by hand, pouring sap buckets into a large tank in the bed of a pick-up truck, then unloading at the sugar house, where we boil the sap down for hours with no additives. We keep our process simple, without any sophisticated collection infrastructure, because the trees we tap are not on land owned by the farm.
This year we placed more than 450 taps in Weston, on 5 different sites, and expect the season to last approximately 6 weeks. With cold nights and warm days, the season is off to a great start! Come taste the first batch of the season and find out how many gallons we collected, at our March 23rd Sugaring Off Festival!
