We're Opening Our Doors!

We are excited to announce that beginning May 22nd we can safely welcome back our patrons inside the Library! The way we operate will still be slightly different to ensure the health and safety of everyone in the building. We suggest limiting your time to 1 hour visits. Computers will be available by appointment only. For those uncomfortable or unable to visit in person, we are continuing our contactless curbside service. And, for anyone wanting to utilize our outdoor space - we have new picnic tables and Adirondack chairs available outside.

A Note About Masks

As of May 19^th, Connecticut is not making mask wearing mandatory inside for those that are vaccinated. However, out of an abundance of caution and concern for the community’s children who are not yet fully vaccinated or are too young to be vaccinated; we kindly ask you to wear a mask while visiting the library. Staff will continue to wear masks as well.

Please be assured that the Mark Twain Library staff will not ask to see your vaccination certification or monitor mask wearing. But, we are encouraging you to please wear your mask even if you are vaccinated. Non vaccinated individuals are required to wear their mask. We will also be glad to provide you with a mask if you forget yours.

Monthly College Application Q&A w/ Priyanka Shingala

(Teens & Adults)

Get a quick check list of relevant resources and what students should be working on virtually from an expert college advisor. Plus any other questions answered. This program is offered every month - content varies each session. All are welcome - however it is most relevant for current juniors as we will go over any potential COVID-19-related changes affecting the college application process.

Cartooning Workshop w/ Award-winning Artist Rick Stromoski

(Teens & Adults)

During this fun, interactive virtual workshop, participants will learn how to draw impossible silly creatures from nationally syndicated and award-winning cartoonist and humorous illustrator, Rick Stromoski -who is known for syndicated comic strips Mullets and Soup to Nutz.

No drawing experience is necessary to participate in this program.

Mark Twain: A 4-Part Series

Join us as we welcome experts from the Mark Twain House in Hartford for a special four-part series on our beloved founder himself. This spring and fall we will delve into Mark Twain’s life from his travels, his writings, and his place in our nation’s history. We begin in May with a virtual program that examines Twain's travels across America and the Atlantic and in June we tackle Twain and the American Presidents.
