Thank you to all the Tacony Creek Park neighbors who came out to support and help us during the installation of the amazing Learning Trail during two busy weeks this month! We installed six animal sculptures and benches along Cayuga Street in Juniata Park.
|
We will provide FREE fun educational materials (Seek and Find) as well as science and reading programs for neighbors all through this month and again next spring through fall. This project is funded by the William Penn Foundation.
A very special thanks to Philadelphia Water Commissioner Randy Hayman, Chair of the William Penn Foundation Kathy Christiano, and Dalila Bedoya for sharing thoughts at the Ribbon Cutting on September 14.

¡Lanza el River Alive! Learning Trail
¡Gracias a todos los vecinos de Tacony Creek Park que vinieron a apoyarnos y ayudarnos durante la instalación del increíble Sendero de Aprendizaje durante dos semanas ocupadas este mes! Instalamos seis esculturas de animales y bancos a lo largo de la calle Cayuga en el Parque Juniata.

Grants for Watershed Stewardship and Restoration awarded!
You know that TTF is one of greater Philadelphia’s most impaired waterways, struggling with runoff and combined sewage overflows in Philadelphia including Tacony Creek Park.
|
But did you know that we were recently awarded funding to protect two tributaries in Montgomery County to reduce the impacts of stormwater runoff along Jenkintown Creek and Shoemaker Run? A grant from the National Fish & Wildlife Foundation Delaware River Restoration Fund of $84,300 will support the installation of green stormwater infrastructure at the Reform Congregation Keneseth Israel parking lot in Cheltenham Township, and a grant of $44,800 will enable streambank restoration at the Abington Club golf course.
In addition, through a partnership with Power Corps PHL and Riverfront North Partnership, we were funded through the Delaware Watershed Conservation Fund for capacity building in environmental stewardship skills training for maintenance in parks and along trails.

¡Fondos otorgados para el manejo y la restauración de cuencas!
¿Sabe que TTF es una de las vías fluviales más deterioradas del área metropolitana de Filadelfia, que lucha contra la escorrentía y los desbordamientos de aguas negras en Filadelfia, incluido Tacony Creek Park.
