Tewari Talks!
I was in Lisbon, Portugal recently. In this sunny city, using "azulejos" tiles is not only an ancient trade, but still considered a great skill today. Azulejos are hand-painted, tin-glazed ceramic, crafted by artisans who hone their craft for years and then apply their skills to sidewalks, streets, and buildings – everywhere you look there are colorful tiles installed for the ages. As we culminate the Spring semester, I began to think about how education is a similar endeavor. You hone your skills for several years, moving up to different levels each year. You are firming up that foundation so that you have accumulated the knowledge and skills needed to apply your craft when you graduate.
But there is more. A single azulejos tile might be beautiful, but its true impact comes when it joins with others to create a stunning mural or intricate design. In the same way, each of you contributes your strengths and talents to enrich the SBCS community, making it a place of greater learning and achievement.
To all of you seniors graduating this Spring, thank you for all your contributions that have created something beautiful and strong, that surpasses the sum of its parts and that like an azulejos wall, will endure.

From the Dean
Spring semester is usually a very busy semester and this one was no exception. We’ve been “springing forward” and it’s hard to believe the semester is over.
We’ve been working hard to revamp our curriculum in response to market needs. Soon we will unfold new programs and courses that are cutting-edge with a focus on career readiness. One example is a new certificate program that combines Biotechnology and Business which will launch in the Fall 2024. And there’s more on the horizon.
While we continue to build partnerships with local and global businesses and educational institutions, we are pleased to announce that we have a partnership with the government of Cabo Verde. Working with Tamara Tavares, Advisor to the Prime Minister, we have established a Cabo Verde Travel Seminar/Course. This has been structured as a consulting project and will have students working with the Prime Minister of Finance and Education to solve real-world challenges. So, picture next year’s Spring Break: students will go to Cabo Verde to engage with Ms. Tavares and the consulting partners to work on key aspects of the project. Upon returning to Curry, students will present their strategic findings and recommendations to the Prime Minister and his team virtually. This represents an immersive and impactful experiential learning opportunity for students and provides practical advice and solutions to address real-world issues for Cabo Verde. A win-win.
This is just the beginning. We will continue to move forward and share updates with each new semester.

Student Work Experience Spring 2024
Haley Ferrara '24
Dual Majors in Public Relations and Communications
Marketing Minor
I work for the Boston Beer Company out of their Seaport office as the E-store and Taproom Merchandising Co-op.
My responsibilities there mainly involve creating and maintaining content/product listings for the e-stores, across all of their core brands. Along with this, I monitor/adjust product inventories, coordinate with our vendors/photographers/brand teams, and communicate with customers through our customer service inboxes.
Some of the well-known Boston Beer brands that I work on are Samuel Adams, Twisted Tea, Angry Orchard, TRULY, and Dogfish Head.
I have only been in this position for 2 1/2 months, but I confidently say that I LOVE my work, the people, the industry, and the overall culture of the company! I found myself leaning towards digital marketing by my junior year, and this role has expanded my knowledge and skills of that field, combining areas of Communication, Public Relations, and Marketing, all of which I study at Curry.
I am soaking up every minute of my 6 months with them and am hoping for some entry level positions to pop up by summer time so that I can apply to work with them full time after I graduate!
Congrats, Haley! Sounds like you're using so many skills, and applying what you've learned here! And having fun doing it! What a great combo!

Student Spotlight
Shannon Nagy '25 Scores a Spot
in Break Through Tech AI Program
Shannon Nagy (a Business Administration major with a minor in Management Information Systems) was recently selected for the Break Through Tech AI fellowship at MIT (in collaboration with Cornell University). This free 1-year program helps women and underrepresented students gain jobs in fast-growing areas of technology such as data science, machine learning, and artificial intelligence. Between May 2024 and April 2025, Shannon will be engaged in this experiential learning, skills-based program tackling real-world problems for industry-leading companies. Shannon will begin nine weeks of intensive AI coursework at MIT this Summer. Throughout the fall, she will join other students in the program, where they will work with industry mentors to solve industry challenges and develop a portfolio of AI projects that demonstrate their capabilities. Throughout the program, students receive career coaching, mentorship, and summer internship placement support, all aimed at helping participants successfully launch their AI tech careers. At the program’s end, she will receive a Certificate of Completion from Cornell University and a cash reward.
That all sounds amazing, Shannon! Good luck, and enjoy the experience!
