Dear Friends of A Novel Experience,

We met author Ann McCallum a little over six months ago at one of our photography receptions and it turned out that she was a fascinating bird enthusiast--and a wonderful advocate for them. She observes birds in her Clayton County environs, she draws them, and inspires kids to be aware of them--plus, she has a delightful sense of humor! This meeting was the genesis of our self-proclaimed "Bird Month" and we couldn't be happier with the result. The local chapter of the Georgia Nature Photographer's Club has created a remarkable photo exhibition of birds--meet the photographers at their Reception this Saturday! An addendum: With an overabundance of enthusiasm, we were poised to present a request for Zebulon to adopt the turkey vulture as our city mascot (we have a loyal, long-established flock here that has persisted despite being unceremoniously evicted from our 1895 Courthouse attic a decade ago...). But, upon sober consideration, we decided their image needed a bit more burnishing before we proceed. And, as it so often happens, a book has just emerged! "Vuture: The Private Life of an Unloved Bird" by Katie Fallon! Stay tuned!

We like our birds.
Just some of our vultures that gather every morning in our fair city.

This is the perfect time to luxuriate in a good book--before the grass begins growing in earnest and the kid's softball leagues crank up. And in a serendipitous piece of good fortune, we have an amazing number of great used books--we think it's the Marie Kondo effect that's behind it--thank you all for sharing your libraries with us! Visit during March and let us help you discover your next-favorite author (and, please return the favor by introducing us to yours).  Stop by this month and tell us waht you're reading!

All of us at A Novel Experience

P.S. We've planning a one-time book group to discuss Mary Pipher's " Women Rowing North: Navigating Life's Currents and Flourishing as We Age"--it's a winner! Buy it now and come discuss it on Friday, April 12 beginning at 7:00 pm. We're looking forward to seeing our fellow travelers!
