A Phased Opening Done Right
To make sure we are able to build the infrastructure and make the most of our wonderful new home, we'll be welcoming you back in three phases. This approach lets us give every program, every club, and every member the attention and care they deserve as we get settled in.
The Center 55+ will officially reopen on Tuesday, April 7th at 9:00 am!
On April 7th, our Phase One programming will begin. We will have a smaller number of classes and clubs available during this first phase as we continue to scale our programming.
Next week we will send out information on our new membership guidelines, code of conduct, and class sign-up sheets.

Trips
March 30th Monday 10:30-2:30pm
SCRAP - free for us!
- Scrap is a retail store which sells donated craft, office, art & other supplies for creative reuse. Participants will get a tour of the facility and then create a curated craft using materials from the store! Lunch afterwards in the Pearl.
April 2nd Thursday 10:00-2:30pm
Lan Su Chinese Gardens & Riverfront Cherry Blossoms - $15 (or $5 with museums for all, up to 4 ppl per card)
- Inspired by 16th century scholar gardens, Lan Su embodies a rich tradition to evoke beauty but also provoke thought. The riverfront Cherry Blossoms will be in bloom at this time, and I can help navigate people there as well. Lunch downtown.
April 9th Thursday 9:00-4:30pm
Cannon Beach - $10 gas fee
- This trip coincides with peak whale migration time so bring your binoculars if you have them. Pack a lunch or eat at one of the many restaurants. Be prepared for all types of weather.
April 13th Monday 10:00-2:45pm
Wooden Shoe Tulip Festival - $10-12
- Annual celebration of spring, showcasing acres of tulip fields in bloom! Located in Woodburn, we must buy tickets in advance which will be in the $10-12 range for seniors. Please sign up early to help with the logistics.
April 16th Thursday 10:00-2:30pm
Vista House - free!
- We’ll begin at the overlook at Vista House (building may or may not be open). Then we’ll visit LaTourell Falls which will be flowing hard in the spring. Afterwards we’ll stop in downtown Troutdale for lunch, or you may pack a picnic for the park
April 20th Monday 10:00-2:30pm
City of Aurora
- Do some antiquing, grab some lunch or visit the Colony Museum and learn about the historical fiction of Jane Fitzpatrick
April 23rd Thursday 10:00-2:30
Oregon Military Museum - free!
- Located on an active National Guard base this museum features a Hall of Valor honoring Medal of Honor recipients from Oregon, an art exhibit by current service members, and indoor & outdoor displays of military history. Everyone attending must show ID at the gate to gain admission. Lunch in Clackamas area.
April 27th Monday 10:00-2:45pm
NatureScaping Southwest WA Botanical Garden - free!
- The Gardens serve as a showcase for plants attractive to birds and wildlife and to demonstrate landscaping for creating wildlife habitat. The goal is to model and inspire people to create that habitat in their own gardens. Lunch afterwards in Vancouver
April 30th Thursday 10:00-2:45pm
Powerland Heritage Center - by donation
- Explore a community of 14 hands-on heritage museums, reflecting the history, preservation, restoration, and operation of antique equipment vehicles, steam powered machinery, trains, trolleys, logging equipment and farm implements. Lunch afterwards.
No trip on May 4th. Trips will resume on May 7th!
What To Remember for Trips:
Sign up by calling Ride Connection 503-226-0700. To help us with an accurate count please try to sign at least one week before.
- Trips will continue to meet at the front entrance of the Multnomah Arts Center for all trips in March and April.
- Please arrive 10 minutes early.
- Some trips involve a lunch stop, but others do not. Please read the description to be sure (and bring snacks regardless!)
- Return times are estimated and are dependent on traffic & road conditions - please plan accordingly for your ride home.
