SEEDS July 29, 2020
He's Baaaaack!
It seems like Pastor Erik and Kelly have been on the Upper Peninsula of Michigan forever, but this Sunday they will return to live-streaming from Christ Trinity Church right here in beautiful downtown Sheffield. Your safest bet is to participate in the service via Facebook Live . A YouTube live-stream may also be available.

In addition to Pastor Erik's presiding and preaching, John-Arthur and Trudy will lead the singing; Jorge and Nancy will be on violin and organ; Ed will be our lector; and Kelly is the Digital Missioner who does all the behind-the-scenes magic. They are referred to as our Magnificent Seven!

After church, we will gather via Zoom and briefly celebrate an 80 th birthday! If you have a balloon or a party hat, come to Zoom coffee hour with it. John-Arthur and Trudy will lead us in singing... well, you know what song they are going to sing. Please join us.
Elder Meals programs continue through August
Both of the Elder Meals programs bring a feeling of belonging to our elder recipients. The present plan is to continue to deliver meals until the end of August. No one knows exactly how COVID-19 will affect our community going into the fall, but chances are we'll still have vulnerable elders that need our help. Your contributions will help keep these programs going. Thank you. The meals are expertly prepared for us by our neighbors at John Andrews Farmhouse Restaurant.
We could use a few more Thrivent Action Team projects to help fund our Wednesday Parish Meals program. These meals are provided to vulnerable elders from of our parish who do not live in Sheffield. Contact Dave and Karen Spidal for help in launching an application for this Thrivent grant. If you want to know more about how to become a Thrivent member, please call the church office.
1 out of 5
There are 45 families in our school district who are struggling to obtain enough food. We are providing one family meal a week to each. We want to continue delivering these weekly meals as long as possible, but participation is way down. Right now, the end to this wonderful program is in sight. If you are able to purchase an entire Family Meal at about $26, please call The Marketplace 413-248-5042 extension 2.

If you can give a more modest amount, click on the button below to donate to our COVID-19 Meals program online. The process is easy and secure. If a whole lot of people donate just a little bit, we will be able to keep the meal program going.
We are grateful
Our outreach programs and the upkeep of the church are made possible thanks to your continued support.
We thank you.

Grace Church calls interim
Friends,

The people of  Grace Church in the Southern Berkshires  have called  The Reverend Elizabeth T. Wade  to serve as interim rector effective August 15.

Libby was awarded the M.Div. from The General Theological Seminary and ordained priest in 1999. She served several congregations as associate, priest-in-charge and rector in the Diocese of Kentucky from 1999-2014.

Libby was trained to serve as interim by both Interim Ministry Network and Clergy Leadership Institute. After she and her husband, Jim, relocated to Western Massachusetts in 2014, Libby did extended supply at All Saints Berkshires, North Adams. She has accepted the call to serve as interim three times previously in our diocese - St. Paul's, Stockbridge, 2015, St. John's, Williamstown, in 2017. and Southwick Community Episcopal Church, in 2018.

Libby has done such fine ministry over and over again. I have no doubt this interim in Great Barrington will yield good fruit. Grace Church has always followed the Spirit's lead. May this mutual ministry be a sign that God is doing something new, and infusing this change with abundant grace.

The Rt. Rev. Douglas J. Fisher
IX Bishop of Western Massachusetts

Just because we have put our Appalachian Trail ministry on hold for a year, please don't think that nothing is going on behind the scenes. We are busy making plans and securing funding for Appalachian Trail Ministry 2021. Next summer's program will be larger, more inclusive and more spirit-filled than ever. If you want to be put on the 2021 Appalachian Trail Ministry newsletter list, email us today.
If you enjoy reading this newsletter, please subscribe to it (below). Although you may find links to it online, those will not always be available.
Nancy King, Sunday's organist, arrives for rehearsal today on her new Orbea motorized bicycle. We think that this is awesome and are anxious to hear more about this mode of transportation.
She is rehearsing the prelude: Romance by Antonin Dvorak, for which our Artist-in-Residence, Jorge Avila will join her.
The postlude will be Gigue Fugue in C by Dietrich Buxtehude. Tune in Sunday!
