Worship News!
Council has carefully reviewed the directives from the CDC, IDPH and Metro Chicago Synod and has made the following determinations:
Capacity for worship in the sanctuary will increase to 100 effective May 23. Distancing will still be required. We will no longer have sign-ins.
We have always said we will trust the science, so we will follow the CDC guidance that allows vaccinated people to opt out of wearing a mask but continues to require masks for unvaccinated people (including children who can't yet get vaccinated).
Those who are masked, vaccinated or not, are welcome to sing.
Obviously, these steps will bring joy and a sense of normalcy to some and to others, a sense of anxiety. Please be understanding of the people who are not where you are. As we navigate what it means to open our doors and take down barriers, we are called to see that we are never acting for ourselves in Christian community. Let us lead with love for one another, as Christ led with love for us.

Summer Sermon Series: Faces of Our Faith
Begins Sunday, May 30
There are many heroes of the faith, people we admire and wish to be. However, there are even more ordinary people of faith—those doing what they can with what they have to make a difference. We hope to dig deep into the worlds of these often overlooked characters, entering their stories with curiosity and openness to what they might teach us.
Vicar Amber's Sunday Message
“Every time I feel the Spirit moving in my heart I will…”
How would you finish this sentence? Maybe you hear the words of the hymn and respond, “Pray!” That is one answer for sure, but the Holy Spirit moves us in a variety of ways. Paul shares several as he talks with the Galatians about the fruits of the Spirit. He states that the Spirit produces in us love and joy, patience and kindness, and still other responses. As we ponder the Spirit’s work in us this Pentecost, consider the fruits the Spirit has been cultivating in you lately.
Spirit of the Living God, You graft us into the vine of Christ so that we might be fruitful. Grow in us so that our work and our interactions can bear life-giving fruit for the world. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
We're celebrating communion during the service and also outdoors at 10:15 am, in a brief, but full communion service. And remember, you can always arrange a communion visit with Pastor Trudy or Vicar Amber.

Real questions from real people to learn more about faith
We have the gift of the Holy Spirit… so why does following Jesus still feel like work?
It can be frustrating for Christians that the acts and attitudes that Jesus instructs us in do not always happen naturally. Paul describes this conflict in Romans, saying, “I do not do what I want, but I do the very thing I hate.” Following Jesus can feel like work because it causes us to go against the ways of the world that come naturally to us. The Holy Spirit does not override our free will to choose self-seeking or sinful patterns of living. However, the Holy Spirit tethers us to Christ, giving us what we need to find our way back to Him and guiding us back into His way when we become lost.

GLC Life in Pictures
Wow! We believe Griffin thought his baptism was awesome based on the number of times he repeated, "Wow!" during the service. Congratulations to parents, Sharon & Joshua Franks on the baptism of their son!
The Weiss sisters, Halle and Hayden, came to Sunday School and learned that they also have brothers and sisters in Christ!
Brayden, Jessica, and Jack were part of the High School Youth group that gathered last Sunday for a time of sharing and sidewalk chalk encouraging messages. #youmatter
Send pictures of how you are living your #generouslifeinChrist to Margo. Thank you!
