Repairing Homes, Revitalizing Communities and Rebuilding Lives
October 2020
A Note From Our Executive Director
Friend,

There's so much to share with you this month. Our golf tournament was a roaring success, we are about to start major repair work on a nonprofit home that helps senior women with disabilities, and we want to send a few shout outs to some all-star supporters.

But before we get into it, I want to quickly mention that the fall and winter months can be extremely difficult for many of our vulnerable neighbors. When you don't have heating or proper insulation, it is hard to stay warm.

I hope you will consider funding our essential work so we can continue to be there for the families who need us the most. You can donate here or participate in one of our benefit events below.

Please enjoy this month's newsletter and let me know what you think.
All the best,
Maury Peterson Signature

Rebuilding Together Montgomery County
Our Biggest Tournament Yet
The 2020 Rebuilding Together Golf Tournament couldn't have gone better. Over 100 golfers participated and we had the most beautiful weather we could have asked for. During these trying times, the event brought a sense of normalcy and much-needed leisure.

But the best part? We surpassed our previous fundraising record and nearly doubled last year's total. These funds will help us move closer toward our fiscal year goal of providing critical home repairs to 178 homeowners in need.

To Tournament Sponsors Carey’s Mechanical and Miller & LongConcrete Construction, as well as all of our other sponsors, attendees, and volunteers — thank you, thank you, THANK YOU!
RTMC Spotlight: Lance Wolin
We want to recognize the contributions of RTMC's Board Vice President, Lance Wolin. Lance was integral to the success of this year's golf tournament and because of him, we have established new partnerships with several local companies. He has also gone to great lengths to help our organization find the skilled resources we need to complete necessary repairs for our low-income neighbors. Thank you for all that you do, Lance!
Welcome, Joni!
We're pleased to introduce you to Joni Keaton! Joni is serving an 11-month AmeriCorps term with us as the AmeriCorp Client Outreach Coordinator. She grew up in Rockville and is thrilled to return to the area after graduating this past spring from the University of Oklahoma, where she double majored in International Studies and Ballet Performance. We're glad to have Joni on the team!
Drawing Contest Deadline Extended
We've extended the deadline for RTMC children's drawing contest! Entries will now be accepted until December 1. The contest aims to encourage young minds to think about the importance of living in a safe and healthy home. We can’t wait to see what their homes mean to them! See the guidelines and submit a drawing.
Revitalizing Becky's House
Although we are hot off the heels of completing the Emanuel House, we don't plan to slow down anytime soon. We're about to begin providing necessary repairs to Becky's House, a house operated by Interfaith Works that serves as a permanent residence for eight senior women with disabilities.

We're still in the early stages, but we anticipate completing this endeavor by next spring, including painting, flooring, improving storage options for the residents and expanding staff office space.

This is an exciting partnership with IFW, and we're eager to get started. If you'd like to play a direct role by helping to fund a portion of this amazing project, please reach out to our Senior Manager of Development, Steve Robinson.
