Dear St. Paul Families,
We hope everyone had a fantastic 4th of July weekend. Our re-opening task force wanted to provide you an update on our progress in planning for the fall.
We want to thank everyone for your participation in our parent reopening survey with 400 responses up to this point. We have been using your input and comments in our planning, and we will continue to use your feedback throughout the summer. If you haven’t had a chance to submit a response, the survey is set to close on July 10.

Full In-Person Learning
St. Paul will be offering full in-person learning 5 days a week this fall with enhanced safety and health precautions. We have reviewed the most recent guidelines announced by Governor DeWine, the guidelines from the Ohio Department of Health, the Diocese of Columbus’ Reopening Guidelines, and the results of the parent survey in making this decision. We have also conducted an assessment of our physical space and school staffing. We are truly blessed at St. Paul to have a building that can accommodate our large student population even while maintaining the ideal 6 foot social distancing criteria. We know there are many questions, and we are working through all the pertinent logistical details. We should have a finalized plan soon that we can send out to our school family.
We will be offering a full time distance learning option for K-8 students and families who are not ready to send their child(ren) back to school at this point. About 25% of our 400 respondents on the parent survey indicated that they would consider this option for their child(ren) if offered. We will send out more details in our final plan.
Face Coverings for Staff and Students
Out of all the questions asked on the parent survey, we saw the largest variance of opinions and comments when it came to mask wearing for students and staff members. While we want to honor the thoughts of our parent community, we are committed to developing a policy that best ensures the safety and health of our students and staff. We are awaiting final recommendations from the Diocese of Columbus, and we will keep you updated.
We will be implementing a new student information system and learning management tool called
to replace Schoolspeak this fall. Digital Academy consolidates all important academic and grading information into one platform including a “Live Classroom” feature. Whether students are learning remotely or in person, our teachers will be able to offer a rigorous learning environment.
Contingency Planning (Tier 2 and Tier 3)
While we anticipate full in-person learning at school this fall (Tier 1), we are actively planning for blended (Tier 2) and full distance learning (Tier 3) contingencies. Our goal is to be able to implement any of the three tiered approaches if needed and/or mandated by changes in COVID-19 this year.
We will be offering full day in-school preschool for our currently enrolled families consistent with Ohio Department of Education reopening guidelines. We will send out a separate communication to preschool families with more information.
