CUNY Callouts

Jack Kasindorf, Baruch College ’24, is a senior majoring in psychology who has focused his studies on the psychological impact of music. He is an aspiring musician who recently launched the nonprofit Djembe Joy after winning second place in CUNY Clash, an ideas competition launched last spring that invites students to solve real-world problems and put their creative entrepreneurship ideas to the test. Djembe Joy provides music therapy for young people with special needs through drum circles that inspire feelings of connection and belonging.

What inspired you to study psychology?

“My original major was entrepreneurship but I ended up pursuing psychology after having a thoughtful and inspiring connection with David Sitt, one of the psychology professors.”

What advice do you have for current students?

“Reach out and connect with as many individuals as you can in the career fields you are looking to explore. I have learned about so many different industries by doing so.”
