Airport Connector, Warwick

Landscaping continues at the Airport Connector, from Rhode Island T.F. Green International Airport to I-95, requiring alternating lane closures, weekdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sidewalk and concrete work along Post Road, from Warwick Avenue to the Airport entrance, also involves alternating lane closures, weekdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

_

Aquidneck Avenue, Middletown

Overnight paving requires the continued closure of Aquidneck Avenue, from East Main Road to Green End Avenue, Sunday-Thursday nights from 9 p.m.-5 a.m. Ongoing sidewalk and drainage work within the same project limits involves alternating one-way traffic, weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Henderson Bridge, East Providence

Although no lane closures are scheduled, crews will continue curing the concrete bridge deck, building the second half of the Massosoit Avenue roundabout, and installing communication line conduit at the east abutment and work on the bridge parapets.

I-95 North Viaduct, Providence

Various ramps within the I-95 North/Exit 37 interchange and the on-ramp from Atwells Avenue to I-95 North will be closed for material deliveries, Sunday-Thursday nights, from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m., and alternating lanes will be closed, Sunday-Thursday nights from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. for material deliveries and work at the Smith Street Bridge. Park Street, from Hayes Street to Smith Street, will also be closed for curb and sidewalk work, Monday-Friday, from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Please follow signed detours during all closures.

Pell Bridge Ramps Phase 2, Newport

On Admiral Kalbfus Road South, we will do traffic signal work, and install curbing and sidewalk, landscaping along the slopes, and earthwork. Drainage and electrical work are also expected along JT Connell Highway between the JT Connell Connector and Van Zandt Avenue intersection, and paving and other ongoing bridge rehabilitation work along Route 138 at the Third Street, Newport Secondary, and the JT Connell Highway overpasses. These operations may require temporary lane shifts along Third Street and JT Connell Highway.

Businesses remain open during construction, and Navy Base commuters may use the JT Connell roadway south of the roundabout and the Connector Road for an easy alternative access point to the bridge.

Route 6/10 Interchange Reconstruction, Providence

Harris Avenue north traffic will continue to detour for work at the Harris Avenue Bridge, Monday-Friday nights from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. We will also detour traffic to and from Hartford Avenue and have alternating lane closures for overnight paving on Route 6 West, from the 6/10 split to Hartford Avenue, Wednesday and Thursday nights from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. Please follow signed detours. Weekdays from 6:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., motorists can also anticipate alternating lane closures on Route 10 North, from Broadway to just past Tobey Street, to prepare Route 10 North for pavement, make storm drainage improvements on Route 10 South near Union Avenue, and work on the east bridge abutment for the new ramp from Route 6 East to Route 10 South.

Route 37 Improvements, Cranston/Warwick

Bridge Group 51A: Pontiac Avenue to Post Road (see photo, above)

By early next week, we are slated to open the new, and start to remove the old, Pontiac Avenue ramp to Route 37 West. Travelers can expect daytime alternating lane closures for electrical work on Pontiac Avenue itself, from Sockanosset Cross Road to the Route 37 ramps, weekdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. We also plan to install guardrail behind barrier on both sides of the Pawtuxet River North Bridge (carrying Route 37 over the Pawtuxet River) and down the I-95 South ramp to Route 37. Pending availability of asphalt and concrete, we are also scheduled to pave both sides of the Pawtuxet River North Bridge, and place sidewalks at the intersection of Pontiac Avenue and Sockanosset Cross Road.

Bridge Group 51B: I-295 area (see photo, below)

On Monday night, starting at 8 p.m., we will shift traffic on I-295 North in the vicinity of Phenix Avenue to the east to create a new work zone along the left shoulder. Motorists can anticipate alternating lane closures in this area on Sunday night, prior to the shift, through Friday morning at 5 a.m., when the overnight operations conclude. Travelers can also expect a right lane closure on I-295 South in the vicinity of Route 37 for overnight bridge work, Sunday-Thursday nights from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m., and alternating one-way traffic, with frequent vehicle access in/out of the work zones, for daytime bridge work on Cranston Street, below Route 37, Monday-Friday from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Route 146, Lincoln/North Smithfield

The Route 146 South service roads at I-295 will be closed for bridge work, Tuesday-Thursday nights from 9 p.m. to 6 am., with a suggested detour of I-295 South. To do some tree clearing, we’ll also have to close the Route 146 South service road on-ramp to I-295, detouring to I-295 North, Sunday and Monday nights from 9 p.m. to 6 am. Overnight and daytime roadwork will require alternating lane closures on Route 146, from Route 116 to the Massachusetts line, Sunday-Thursday nights from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m., and from Route 146A to the Massachusetts line, weekdays from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Washington Bridge, East Providence/Providence

Next week, we will focus on operations associated with the closed Gano Street off-ramp (Exit 1D) off I-195 West. This includes completing removal of its right side barrier, full and partial depth concrete bridge deck and substructure repairs, and drainage work. We will also continue prepping to install structural steel at the Waterfront Drive off-ramp, currently projected to take place within the next month or so.
