We hope you continue to keep well and safe.
We are immensely grateful, often to tears, for the outpouring of support for those we serve. We have had a good deal of weeping in our parking lot as so many have cried tears of gratitude for the support they have gotten, through LHR, from strangers.
We continue to work urgently to make sure that we are able to serve everyone who comes to us for food. We're in this for the long haul, planning for the worst and hoping for the best.
Families in need are being served in the parking lot, both at the Sterling Community Center on Monday afternoons and at the Leesburg pantry Tuesday through Saturday. Much of the necessary information exchange is taking place on the phone before people get here. We are making this process as safe as we possibly can for our staff and those we serve.
This week so far (with Saturday left to go), we have served around 400 families, more than a third of them coming to us for the first time. This is sobering, as we know that 13,306 Loudoun residents have filed for unemployment in the last four weeks. The need is increasing.
We are so thankful to be here, in Loudoun, during this intense and troubling time. Thank you for being a wonderful community, and for caring about your neighbors.
