A Historic Move in Easton, Massachusetts
BETA has been working closely with the Town of Easton, MA on a roadway improvement project that will greatly improve traffic control, safety, and mobility. The project also includes the relocation of the historic Soldiers Monument, which will allow the Town to eliminate the island it was situated on while also enhancing the significance of the monument in its new location. On July 11, the initial piece – the Soldier statue located at the peak of the monument – was secured to a crane in order to move it off the island and to a temporary staging area on Center Street. Over 20 individual sections were ultimately moved over the course of several days and will be analyzed to address any preservation or repair needs before being re-assembled in its new location. Join us for a historic clean-up event!
In September 1972, 10,000 volunteers lined the banks of the Blackstone River to remove tons of trash, appliances, furniture, even cars and a school bus from its banks. It became the largest one-day regional environmental clean-up in American history! This year marks 50 years since the initial clean-up and the Blackstone River Valley community is coming together once again for ZAP 50, the biggest clean-up/green-up revival in 50 years.

Given our proximity to the River and our history of working in the area, BETA is proud to be sponsoring ZAP 50. We also have two teams of volunteers heading out on Saturday, August 27, 2022 to help with the cleanup in Massachusetts and Rhode Island.
Employee Spotlight: Meet Jaimie Payne
BETA Engineer Jaimie Payne brings her professional expertise, superb client service, and leadership talents to every project she is involved in. Her work often focuses on building a better future amidst climate change, and she approaches each challenge with collaborative spirit and a creative mind.    

Jaimie joined BETA in 2018 and spearheads our Young Professionals Committee, where she organizes company events and facilitates discussions across our many offices. Her vision for BETA’s YP Committee is to invest in the future of our younger employees by providing opportunities to network, volunteer, and continue in their professional development. August is National Water Quality Month
National Water Quality Month is dedicated to making the most of the relatively small amount of fresh water we have, because having clean water is vital to our individual health, our collective agricultural needs, and the needs of our environment.

Welcome to the team!
Amanda Ray joins BETA's environmental services group as a Staff Scientist in our Lincoln, RI office.

Amanda's previous experience includes analyzing and reviewing lab data, as well as organizing and processing samples for products.

Amanda earned her BS in environmental science from the University of Massachusetts in Amherst and her master's in environmental law and policy from the Vermont Law School.
Christian Mali joins BETA's transportation group as an Engineering Designer in our Worcester, MA office.

Christian previously held a position as a Surveyor-Instrument Operator, where he was responsible for calibrating and operating multiple surveying equipment for property boundaries.

Christian has a BS in civil engineering from the University of Massachusetts in Lowell.
