HORIZON TEXAS CONFERENCE

CENTRAL TX • NORTH TX • NORTHWEST TX

TO: all United Women in Faith members of Central Texas, North Texas and Northwest Texas,

We are all part of the new and growing Horizon Texas Conference United Women in Faith family, coming together as sisters who have developed different traditions over the years. For months members from all three conferences have been meeting as our Unification Team. The process has involved many more members in committees and more in sub-committees.

An important task has been developing the Standing Rules for our new Horizon Texas Conference UWFaith. You may be familiar with Standing Rules from your legacy conference. These are also a tool to help us work together with clear policies as we do our business of learning, building community and mission. As in the past, adaptations will be made as we learn about our resources, talents, and needs.

At the upcoming November 9th meeting we will be voting on these proposed Standing Rules along with other documents. These Standing Rules merge three sets of policies from our legacy conferences into one. The Unification Treasurers Sub-Team, the Unification Leadership Team, and the Unification Standing Rules Sub-Team have all been part of the effort. The rules define the administrative functions and procedures for putting our UWFaith Bylaws into effect at the conference level, including financial obligations to and from the officers, structure and responsibilities, programming, and protocol in official business to clarify the needs of the Horizon Texas Conference,

2025 will be a test year for the Standing Rules in the areas of expenses, reimbursement, and planning events as our revenue naturally fluctuates. Each Article must consider the availability of funding and the practice of good stewardship of our funds until a precedent is set over the next few years. As a living document, amendments may be considered annually.

Please read over this document and become familiar with it now, before the vote for adoption at our November 9th meeting in Abilene. If you have questions, reply to this email and we'll respond.
