It's music to our ears

After several months as "interim," we're thrilled to announce that Dr. Carol Hyde has officially accepted the position of Music Director. Hallelujah!

Summer schedule and picnic May 18

Beginning May 18, St. Mark's will move to the summer schedule of one service at 10 a.m. This service will be followed by the parish covered-dish spring picnic on the Green. Watch for complete information later.

Altar flower dates are available

A number of Sundays are available on the altar flower calendar for the remainder of the year. You're invited to reserve flowers in memory of someone or in thanksgiving for a person, anniversary, birthday, or other milestone. Click here to view the calendar and click here for the reservation form or pick up an altar flower envelope from the narthex and follow the directions. We would appreciate your using the form or envelope and enclosing your check with it. That will help us avoid mistakes. Thank you.

Women of Grace

The next meeting of St. Mark's women's group will take place on Thurs., May 15, when Barbara Berry will update us on the new Sands Beach Park in Port Royal. The group meets at noon in the church. Bring your lunch. All women are invited!

The beautiful "Alleluia" banner was handmade several years ago by Debbie Phelps and Cheryl Gaillard and will remain in place for the Great Fifty Days of Easter. Thanks also to the Flower Guild, to all who donated chancel flowers, and to Sallie and Leigh Stone for setting up the Flowered Cross. (Photos by Kevin de l'Aigle and Sallie Stone)

Group trip to hear Nadia Bolz-Weber in Charleston on June 5

Nadia Bolz-Weber will be in Charleston as a stop on her "Red State Revivals" tour for an evening of singing, prayer and preaching. Bolz-Weber seeks to remind the church what seems more and more important and less and less popular: “humility, curiosity, mercy and hope—the things Jesus yammered on about.” St. Mark's is planning to organize carpools to this event. To add your name to the list, contact the office at stmarksc@gmail.com. For more details, click HERE.

Note: A generous parishioner has donated funds for several tickets for those who need a sponsor. Contact stmarksc@gmail.com.

We ask your prayers for Mary Bryan, Connie Skok, Judy Parichy, Bonnie Connolly, Molly Wolford, Amy Christian, Linda Jones, Kim Rogowsky, Tom Tull, Charlie and his parents, Ann Frias, Carolyn and Jim Chapman, Jim and Sandy Click, Tim and Mary, the Rev. Patricia Turk, friends and family of the Rev. Kenneth Hodges, and the St. Mark's Search Committee: Beth Campbell, Shannon Duffy, Liz Esch, Scott Peters, Woody Rutter, Sallie Stone and Jim Turk.
