From the Pastor
On Thursday mornings, without fail, someone eventually asks me, “Hey — when are you going to write something for the newsletter?”
This week, somewhere between coffee and my inbox filling up, I jokingly said out loud, “Maybe I should just let Mike write the cover this week.”
If you don’t know Mike Klug, you should. He’s our phenomenal facilities director. If something works around here, it’s usually because of him.
So I said, “Mike, why don’t you write something?”
He said, “Well, don’t you try to be biblical?”
I said, “Yes… I try.”
He said, “I don’t know what the Bible has to say about facilities.”
I told him, “Oh, it has plenty to say. Exodus and Leviticus are full of details about building the tabernacle — materials, dimensions, structure. God cares about buildings.”
And then I said, “If you really want to go for it, write about Ananias and Sapphira in Acts. They come before the church leadership with an offer, lie about it… and God strikes them dead. It’s basically one of the first trustees meetings in the church!
At that point someone wisely said, “I think the goal is to get people to serve. I’m not sure that story will help.”
Well — before lunch break was even over, Mike had sent me the devotion below.
It’s thoughtful. It’s honest. And it’s exactly the kind of reflection that reminds me how blessed I am to serve alongside such faithful people.
Take a moment to read it slowly.
