AN INSIDE LOOK FROM OUR MOM'S

Empowering children to flourish by providing a holistic education, complete nutrition, and a supportive community.

In honor of Mother's Day, we want to celebrate the mothers of our community. They work incredibly hard to support their families and create better lives for their children.

Empowering moms involves a combination of humanitarian aid and programs. MdC’s mission is to address the many facets of poverty that families face, improve their current situation, and lead families toward self-empowerment.

Our programs include:

Clean water
Exercise classes
Support program for adolescents
Emergency aid and vital medicines
Medical, dental, and vision clinics

Opportunities to earn an income through our Women’s Work Program.
Nutrition through daily meals, monthly groceries, and grocery gift cards
Education and empowerment programs for children 6-days a week
Preschool and childcare when moms attend programs
Seminars for moms on a host of relevant topics

A few weeks ago we surveyed 55 moms in our community

Here is what most said about their living conditions

Bathroom: outhouse outside the home

Shower: outside of the house with a hose

Sleeping: almost all reported the entire family sharing a bedroom and/or bed

Dishwashing: by hand outside

Clothing: rented washer or by hand

Home: made of wood, scrap wood, and a few reported brick

The words were powerful and repetitive

Life is hard for our moms but they have hope for a better future. MdC's facility and programs at Casa Esperanza are like an oasis in their literal desert, providing hope and a pathway to a better future. Thank you for being a part of this life-changing work.
