May 1, 2025

Hello friends and supporters of Achieve Brown County!

We've made some progress in achieving our fundraising goals for April and May but still need to raise $60,000 in the months of June and July to sustain the Achieve Brown County Collective Impact Partnership at reduced staffing levels and to ensure progress in Partnership Advancement, Data Work, and Collaborative Action continues. This week's e-blast features a glimpse inside our Collaborative Action work including what action teams are working on and what systems results we're aiming to achieve this year.

Your support is critical for our partnership to achieve our goals. Join us as a donor and be a part of transformational change for our community.

Sincerely,

Sarah Beckman, Executive Director

At the Achieve Brown County Collective Impact Partnership, we don’t deliver direct services. We connect the people who do.

This is the heart of our Collaborative Action work—one of the three pillars that drives systems change in our community, alongside Partnership Advancement and Data Work.

Through Collaborative Action, we support local leaders, educators, and families in working together across sectors to move the needle on major issues like Kindergarten Readiness and Early Grade Reading. It’s about making sure the right people are in the room—and that we’re all rowing in the same direction.

... Because, without the Achieve Brown County Collective Impact Partnership work becomes siloed, data becomes less accessible, and systems become too complex to change alone.

We need your help.

Whether it's $20 or $20,000, your investment keeps this work moving forward.

What Collaborative Action Looks Like in 2025

This year, we’re aiming for big results through Collaborative Action. Through relationship and trust building and a focus on systems-level change, we plan to achieve several results through our Reading for the Future Initiative.

1. Result: Launch an Early Literacy Dashboard

We're facilitating the development of a brand new dashboard dedicated to early literacy. This tool will bring together community-wide data to help partners understand where support is needed most and how to measure progress. It’s a crucial next step in aligning efforts and making data available for everyone working to improve early literacy in our community.

2. Result: Host Early Literacy Convenings in Spring & Fall

For the second year in a row, our Reading for the Future Strategy Team is hosting two Early Literacy gatherings to bring together every one of our Reading for the Future action teams and other community partners working to improve early literacy. These convenings are designed to foster alignment, collaboration, and cross-sector innovation—because we know that change happens faster when we move together.

3. Result: Increasing Parent Confidence to Support Early Literacy Development

Our Reading Begins at Birth team is diving deeper into the early childhood space with a clear focus: helping more parents feel confident in their ability to build a foundation for supporting their children with learning to read. This team is focused on mapping resources of support already available in our community that achieve this goal and strategizing ways to improve connections to these resources.

Understanding Systems Change

At Achieve Brown County, we align our work with all six conditions of systems change. Systems change is identifying bright spots and barriers of these six conditions and then working to scale the bright spots and eliminate the barriers so that more families, individuals, and young people can thrive. Collaborative Action is more than a buzzword. It’s coordinated strategy, shared accountability, and authentic partnership. When people work together, systems conditions move.

Real Stories of Collaborative Action Impact

Action Team Impact: Early Childhood System of Care

When we focus on individual-level outcomes, we don’t get the full picture. We don’t see the norms, policies and practices embedded within systems — institutions and organizations — where young people live, learn and grow. We miss the role that complex systems play in creating inequities. Read More →
