Dear friends and family:

We're out of food!

This month, we’ve already gone into the red with our nutrition program. This has never happened in our past, but now we have to beg for donations for our nutrition program—otherwise, we’ll have to cut back on the number of days we provide meals to our students and we ran the risk of malnutrition among our students. After a few years of very low levels of malnutrition, we would be back to that nightmare. 

It’s tough, but we hope we can get through this with your help. We can’t forget that the nutrition program is the foundation of all our activities, and if our children go hungry, nothing else will work.

We've tried to save as much as possible up until now without compromising the quality of the meals, but the situation is now unsustainable.

To be able to finish the year providing meals to all our students Monday through Friday, we still need to raise $12K. Every contribution counts, no matter how small, and please share this newsletter with others who might want to support our students. We cannot allow hunger to destroy our students' dreams.

Mathew and Neithan are two of our youngest students who come in every day, happy to find the three essentials at CDLS: food, play, and lots of love. 

Every quarter, we hold an assembly with all our students where we present awards to the top students in each class. This is our way of recognizing our students’ attendance, punctuality, and involvement. The awards are always items they can use for school or their studies. The children are always very excited on this day. 

Thanks to Electric Aid Foundation, we've been able to improve our playground. Our youngest children come to play there every day after school. At Education Plus, our pillars are nutrition, education, and play. These are the foundations of a happy childhood. Thanks to this support, we installed new wooden playground equipment, painted and repaired some of the old equipment, set up new tables in our dining room, and improved the art club area.
