Our 2023 Annual Report is now live on our website!
We are consistently inspired by the passion and dedication of our global partners in Guatemala, India, Tanzania, and the Central African Republic (CAR).
Our partners continued to do incredible work in 2023 in the face of climate change, persistent obstacles relating to the COVID-19 pandemic, and global political shifts.
Read about the highlights and challenges of each partner program in the 2023 Annual Report.

Bethany Krepela Presented at the Spring Roundup in North Dakota.
Our development director Bethany Krepela attended the Spring Roundup event at Sheyenne Riverbend Resort in Valley City, ND on April 20.
Sponsored by the Eastern North Dakota Synodical Women’s Organization, this event brought women together for the purpose of worship, relaxation, fellowship, and learning.
Bethany hosted a table at the event and gave a dynamic 30-minute talk about LPGM and our partner's new women and girls' literacy initiative in the CAR.

LPGM Tabled at the Minneapolis Area Synod Assembly.
LPGM executive director Dan Ruth, program director Mary Peterson, and development director Bethany Krepela attended the 2024 Minneapolis Area ELCA Synod Assembly May 2-4 at Lord of Life Lutheran Church in Ramsey, MN. Pastor Jen Nagel was elected as the new bishop.
The staff connected with attendees, spreading the word about our global partners' work and our desire to build new relationships with congregations committed to our mission - to provide access to quality education for people at the margins - especially women and girls.

Spring Refresh Initiative
|
|
The first couple weeks of the Spring Refresh initiative have been a great success! As of today, friends like you have helped us reach 53% of our goal of $40,000 by June 15.
If you haven't heard about it yet, here's a quick recap. Our partner in India, the Arcot Lutheran Church (ALC), which owns and operates the boarding homes - and our India-based staff - have identified three critical priorities for facility improvements: refreshing rooms with paint, repairing leaking roofs, and adding toilet doors to bathroom facilities.
Students are currently away on summer break, so it is the perfect time to repair and refresh the boarding homes. The time to act is now.

We can't thank you enough for responding with such urgency and generosity!
As we continue to make great progress towards our goal, will you help keep the momentum going?
Follow along on Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn. We will continue to post updates there.

"LPGM's 2023 Year in Review" on Facebook Live
Wednesday, June 26, 2024
12:00 - 12:30 pm
Join us for a brief Facebook Live over the lunch hour on June 26. LPGM's entire US-based staff will be there to catch you up on what our tenacious and resilient partners in India, Tanzania, Guatemala, and the Central African Republic (CAR) were up to last year, as they worked tirelessly to provide education to people - especially women and girls - at the margins.
We will also introduce you to our new communications coordinator, Shannon Mahedy, and we will say goodbye to our beloved managing director, Naomi Staruch, as she transitions out of her role at LPGM and begins her retirement journey.
While the work is never done, it's important to pause, reflect, and reevaluate each year – and we think you, as part of our greater community, should be included in that reflection process.
We hope you can make it. If you’re not able to attend, the recording will be available on our Facebook page after the event.

Eripoto Etsy Shop
The Eripoto Etsy Shop supports Eripoto for Girls & Women in Tanzania. At Eripoto's safe house, young women escaping forced early marriage and other forms of gender-based violence learn entrepreneurial skills to support themselves, like sewing, beadwork, and jewelry making.
Izzy Kim, a high school sophomore from Danville, California, first learned about Eripoto on her school's visit to Arusha, Tanzania.
| |
|
|
She created the Eripoto Etsy Shop to support the women and girls living in the safe house, by sharing their products with the rest of the world.
The products are now accessible worldwide, and 100% of the profits are returned to the young women who made the handicrafts.
