Dear Village Seven Family,
We are half-hearted creatures, fooling about with drink and sex and ambition when infinite joy is offered us, like an ignorant child who wants to go on making mud pies in a slum because he cannot imagine what is meant by the offer of a holiday at the sea. We are far too easily pleased

The Weight of Glory
My prayer for our church is that we will not be so easily pleased. Instead, my prayer is that God will stir up a holy discontent among His people that can only be satisfied by Him.
Throughout this year, our church will focus on kingdom-centered prayer. Our theme is taken from Luke 11:2, where Jesus said, “
When you pray
, say: ‘Father, hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come.’”
Whenever the topic of prayer arises, many Christians feel guilty. We know that we
to pray. Yet, we struggle to pray. However, our purpose is not to guilt you into praying because you ought to pray. Rather, the goal is for all of our hearts and imaginations to be so captivated by the biblical vision of God’s kingdom that we plead with God to make His reign visible in our hearts, our church, and our world. All year, we will focus on kingdom-centered prayer that is characterized by a passionate desire for God to do three things:
- Awaken our hearts so that we delight in Him above all else,
- Stir the hearts of the people of Colorado Springs, the West, and the World to worship Him, and
- Bring His transforming power to every part of our broken world that has been damaged by sin and the fall.
I believe this next year could be one of the most transformational times in the life of our church. When we tune our hearts to God’s heart and discover the joy of seeking Him, it will change our church and can have a profound impact on our city and world. Will you join me in this prayer?
For His glory,
