Our first week was amazing! Parents and students showed up for virtual learning with 90-95% attendance in each academy every single day! Our Novas were ready to start the year! We are reassured that we can make this version of school work despite these challenging circumstances. A huge thanks to our innovative & dedicated staff for their preparation to make our first week a success!
Generous Chromebook Donation Helps Close Technology Gap
With 90% of our families requesting to borrow a device for their child, the MAS team has looked far and wide for donors and vendors to fill this need all summer! One generous donation of 82 Chromebooks from Josh Delaney with Apachii got us about one grade level closer to our goal! These Chromebooks will "ensure that many more families have access to being able to learn everyday," says Elementary Principal Michael Beaudoin. "This donation came just in time to help our MAS families receive appropriate access to education. Now that we are [fully] virtual our goal is to make sure every scholar has access to an education whether theyโre in the building or at home.โ MAS is still in need of donations toward this goal to sustain virtual learning this fall. Strong community partnership and support helps a school's vision become reality. ๏ปฟFor the fourth year in a row, MAS has received a Northwestern Mutual Foundation Grant focused on building capacity for computer science education. With this grant, students will participate in coding courses at Discovery World and teachers will receive technology-related professional development & computer science training. These funds will allow MAS to continue providing relevant STEM & computer science education to our MAS scholars. Thank you to our partners at NML for this continued support!
