AUGUST 2022
SPOTLIGHT
100 years of impact-making. We're so excited to mark this milestone with YOU!
For 100 years, United Way of Central Georgia has been a leader and trusted partner in improving lives and changing the trajectory of communities. It is only when we unite for a common purpose - to disrupt the cycle of family poverty - that our community can thrive. It's for this reason we've chosen "United starts with YOU!" for our theme this year. We will see change in our community when we all commit to improving it. Learn more about how to get involved with UWCG's 100th Anniversary.
United Way of Central Georgia partners with more than 200 businesses every year. They serve as role models for corporate social responsibility, cultivating a culture of care among their employees. We would like to thank their employees for investing in comprehensive community-wide strategies that help fight poverty in Central Georgia.

A workplace campaign not only benefits the community, but it can also improve workplace morale and employee engagement, which are as critical as ever. Listen to Jeff Batcher, this year's Campaign Chair, talk about the benefits of partnering with United Way of Central Georgia.
Thank you for donating school supplies to Brookdale
Thanks to Macon Coca-Cola and the community for donating school supplies to Brookdale! We sent out an email requesting supplies, and YOU responded! More than 1,600 school supply items were donated by Macon Coca-Cola to Brookdale students. Brookdale Resource Center currently houses 18 school-aged children. Your donations have ensured that these students experiencing homelessness feel confident that they have the same school supplies as their housed peers.
NEWS
Helping Families Succeed
As part of First Steps, a program under our Birth through Eight Initiative, Parents as Teachers uses an evidence-based model for parent education through personal visits and group meetings. We equip parents with knowledge and resources to give their children a stronger start in life and greater success in school.
The Power of Partnership
This fall, every first-grader in Macon-Bibb County will receive a free book and a lesson in teamwork from Mercer women’s basketball Coach Susie Gardner. The book giveaway was made possible through support from United Way of Central Georgia, Piedmont orthopedic surgeon Dr. Bill Barnes, Macon philanthropist Beverly Knight Olson, Mercer University Press and an anonymous donor.
