With your support, we can finish strong!
We worked into the dark of night to protect our school gardens and survived that early snow storm. Now, as we enter the final weeks of the growing season, we look forward to big harvests and putting the gardens to bed for the winter. We'll need lots of help and welcome you and your team (of friends, family or colleagues) to volunteer. Please reach out to our Volunteer Coordinator if you're interested. Or, secure the future of school gardens with a donation today!

Our Program Team has created video lessons and worksheets for teachers and parents to use at home to teach our curriculum. All of our lessons (PreK-5) are available now in English and Spanish.
5,500+ pounds to local food banks!
October is a big month for us and we could use your help! Our Garden Team will be working to make sure none of the food growing in school gardens goes to waste.

You can help us make it to the finish line with a donation to our Food For Families Campaign.

Our gift to you is our Home Garden Resource Guide with instructions on how to winterize your own garden and much, much more.
Meet our new Garden Coordinator!

We want to give a special shoutout to our new Garden Coordinator, Gabriela! Gabriela currently lives in Lafayette and her two children go to one of our partner schools: Escuela Bilingüe Pioneer Elementary. She has been gardening since she was a child and grew up on a farm among huge fields of crops such as corn, beans, peppers, and more. She is passionate about the importance of healthy eating, garden education, connecting with our food, the land, and our planet. She also plans to increase outreach among our Latino and Hispanic communities. We are so excited to see her impact on our organization!
Big Thanks go to....
The Community Foundation of Boulder County for their recent support. They have been working tirelessly to meet the needs of our community with their COVID-19 Response Fund and other grant programs.

Also, a big thanks goes to our loyal supporter Snooze for coming out to volunteer in the gardens this summer! We never tire of their menu which is available for take-out, delivery and outdoor seating.
Garden Update

As mentioned above, we are among the last few weeks of our growing season. This month, we've cleared out some of our summer crop beds and planted spinach and Hakurei turnips (which are kid approved!). We will harvest these throughout October and then start to prepare our beds for winter. A great way to maintain your gardens in these cold months that we recommend is through cover crops and compost. Both of these options help to maintain soil health and prepare the beds for the upcoming growing season. Page 8 of our Home Garden Resource Guide has a step by step process of how to do this in your own gardens!
