Welcome to our December Newsletter.

Merry Christmas and a fruitful 2018. This is our second newsletter and as before we want to give an update on recent activities here at EMH Global and also look at some of the issues that affect the world we live in from art to Vogue to Twitter.

EMH is a London based full service communications company specialising in Content, Film, Web Design and build, alongside all manner of other digital activities. We are a uniquely diverse agency.

How to reach them, how best to address them and what works most effectively across platforms.

This month we focus on technology and its impact in changing the face of market, and how well qualified we are with the skills and growth of our Cochin office.

We look at work we are undertaking for Cocoa Marketing Company, African Mining Services and for embassies in Morocco, Washington, Brazil.

Keeping up with changing technology as a marketer

We all agree that technology has changed the way marketers work. Technology has given the consumer choice and more power to demand what product or service they will buy. It has also moved the consumer from face to face to online. For today’s marketer to succeed, he or she needs to be able to have real-time conversations with the consumer as they interact with websites and mobile apps.

Marketing Technology or MarTech is allowing marketers to understand the customers journey by studying their behaviour online. The challenge here is for most marketers, marketing and technology does not always sit easily together therefore working alongside technical staff can be a huge task. This challenge can be minimised if creative or marketing agencies partner with technology agencies who themselves understand creativity to deliver on their technology needs.

The EMH tech team consults and designs using the latest technology, any optimised website, customer relations management (CRM) or enterprise resource planning (ERP) software. At EMH we bring creative briefs alive online.

Over the past decade and beyond our technology team has developed leading software for government agencies in Ghana. EMH in 2010 developed and implemented eCIMS a fully integrated online visa and passport application software for the Ghana High Commission, United Kingdom. The system was the first to have been developed and implemented successfully in a Ghanaian Foreign Mission. The success of the system has seen eCIMS implemented in the Ghana Consulate in New York with more Ghanaian and African Missions due in 2018.

EMH Global Community Work

This past month EMH Global has been involved with some community work. We commissioned Sarah Hughes a professional community artist and her team at the Art Recovery Group to produce a large mural board which will tell the EMH story as London’s most diverse agency. The Art Recovery Group was formed approximately six years ago and is based at the Garden Cafe, Cundy Road, Custom House. It is an art group for vulnerable adults, particularly mental health service users. The group is funded by the Ascension Community Trust. In 2017 the group took on a large scale project to create mural boards for the World Para athletics Championships. These boards went on display on the Shoreditch Art Wall during the competition. Tech Highlight Of The Month: Twitter

Twitter's Latest Update:

Twitter has recently decided to increase the amount of characters you are able to use in a tweet, originally it was 140 characters but it’s now been doubled to 270 characters. With this increase people will now have much more freedom when it comes to writing out their tweets, they will no longer have to limit their words as much as before. This change in characters does not apply to tweets written in Japanese, Chinese and Korean though, this is because with a single character in these languages you can convey much more information, a single character in these languages can be a whole word or even a small section of an entire sentence.

Projects Of The Month

Ghana in Morocco

Introduction

EMH’s full service Website Design and Development team have developed and launched a fully optimised website for the Ghana Embassy in the Kingdom of Morocco. The Mission was looking to develop a website to promote information about its services, governance and investment opportunities in Ghana. EMH was awarded the keenly contested bid because of our unique position as an ethnic agency with strong marketing and technology expertise as well us a long standing understanding working with Ghanaian Missions.

The Brief

The task was to consult, design and build an interactive multilingual website that will promote the work of the Embassy and investment opportunities in Ghana.

Our Solution

Following our technical consultation, review of the Mission operations and objectives, we proposed to the client the need to have a strong presence online. As a standard we developed the website to have basic SEP features like meta tags, meta description, page title, etc. and we submitted the website for inclusion in Google’s index. We have set it up on Google Analytics for tracking traffic.

To enable easy update of the content by the Mission’s in-house administrators, we developed a custom content management system that offered a powerful but easy to use control for most of the website’s content. The website is designed to be fully optimised across all browsers. To help drive in more traffic to the site, we set up social media accounts and linked them to the website.

The website will offer online visa and passport application for the Mission’s clients using eCIMS, EMH’s leading fully integrated online visa and passport application software. This software will allow applicants to make ad pay for their visa applications. It will also feature a live chat support system for applicants who may need assistance with making their applications.

EMH’s eCIMS software is currently being used by the Ghana Mission in London and Ghana Consulate in New York. The system was launched in London in 2011. At the time of its launch in London it was the first fully integrated online application system for any Ghanaian Mission.

Outcome

The Ghana Mission has welcomed the launch of their first website and already have received a number of enquiries from its clients seeking a visa for Ghana as well as looking for investment information on Ghana. The French section of the website and the online application system will be launched at the end of January 2018. Look out for updates on that.

African Mining Services

The production team led by Martin were in Ghana in November producing a series of health and safety videos for a new account African Mining Services (AMS). AMS is one of the largest Contract Mining Company’s in Africa with established support networks in Africa, Australia and Europe.

In November Philip, our managing director and Ama head of projects were in Cochin India to work from our tech office. At EMH unlike other tech agencies who use outsourced teams to deliver on their tech projects, we have our own in house tech team. We are proud to say most of the team have been part of us since 2007.

Welcome to our Team Member Spotlight, in which we have a conversation with one team member in a rapid fire Q&A to find out a little bit about the dynamic people who make up the great team EMH Global.

Meet Ama Frimpong, our head of projects and finance here at EMH Global , Ama joined EMH in 2005. She is from Ghana in West Africa. Ama wears two hats at EMH she manages the technology team based in London and Kochi and the finance team in London and Accra offices. This month is special for Ama as she celebrates her birthday in December.

Here is what we asked Ama Frimpong…

Q: Job Title?

A: Head of Projects and Finance

Q: How long have you been with EMH Global?

A: Since 2005. I started off as part time with Finance and joined fully in 2007

Q: What drives you?

A: I guess you may think what drives me must be profit since I am head of finance but to be honest technology is what drives me. Seeing a technology project through from brief to system analyses then finally to completion is what drives me.

Q: What do you love most about working at EMH?

A: The team at EMH is fantastic. When I started I was the only female in senior management my directors never made me feel inferior rather they pushed me to excel. As you can see I am the only senior manager running two departments.

Q: What makes you passionate about this business?

A: I will say our uniqueness, which is not only as an ethnic agency but gender and cultural diversity. When I look at other agencies like ours in the UK I don’t see many women in senior positions as we have at EMH. I have always been an advocate for diversity in all forms so working with an agency that is truly diverse is a privilege.

Q: What are your hobbies?

A: I love baking, cooking, and traveling.

Q: Where is your go to place to relax?

A: sitting in my lazy couch and watching television with a cup of chocolate does it for me.

Q: Where is your go to place to have fun?

A: I love to lose myself in a good movie or go out with friends.

Q: What is the environment like at EMH?

A: I am sure you will agree with me that you do not expect the tech and finance team to be having much fun. I must say our department turns to be very quiet but we are a relaxed bunch and love to share our little office banter every now and again. Having the creative and production next to us obviously means there is never a dull moment in the office.

Q: What fun things have you done at EMH?

A: Working with the strategy and creative team to work on the agency’s re branding was fun. It was like starting the company all over again after 13 years.

Q: What advice would you give someone wanting to join our agency?

A: You must be passionate about creativity and content, innovative and client focused. Because all we do here at EMH is to exceed our client’s expectation.

Q: What's one tip you think everyone should know about this agency?

A: We are keenly priced, unique full service communications and technology agency with an excellent team of content creators and technologist.
