As you're reading this, I'm in Estes Park for the annual Drive|Lead|Succeed conference, the premier economic development event in Colorado. I'm excited to be participating on a panel about Opportunity Zones, the much-talked about new tax incentive that's being piloted in Mesa County. Look forward to more information and a workshop on this next month!

In other exciting news, two more tech companies recently relocated to our community and joined the Jump-Start tax credit program. As noted in a feature in the current issue of Innovation & Tech Today, Grand Junction can now officially state that it's a tech hub - and a millennial hot spot...

Read more about these new companies and highlights below.

Tech Zone: Grand Junction
In the Fall issue of Innovation & Tech Today , Grand Junction is featured as a "tech zone" where technology, recreation and agriculture, among other things, form the ideal trifecta for entrepreneurship.

Mesa County Welcomes Two More Tech Companies
In September, Colorado's Economic Development Council approved two more companies to join the Rural Jump-Start Tax Credit program in Mesa County: Visual Globe and Dude Solutions. Together they will bring 30 new jobs in the community, with plans to add even more over the next year.

With these latest additions, participants in the Mesa County Jump-Start program have reached a baker's dozen in under three years, making it one of the most successful relocation tools in GJEP's toolkit.

ICYMI: Millennials are flocking to Grand Junction
According to a story yesterday in The Colorado Sun, Grand Junction has made a significant shift from "junk town" to "it place" for millennials in the know.
