Thank you to those who serve!
Forever In Stitches will be closed for the
weekend from Saturday, May 26 through Monday, May 28, 2018 in memory of, and thanksgiving to those who have served and are serving our great country.
I don't know what you think of when you think of Memorial Day. But, as for me, when I grew up, I was taught that Memorial Day was in memory of
those who died in active military service. Through the Vietnam War I expanded the thanks to include those who had survived. Recently, I have expanded my thanks to include those who were still serving.
Today there is a societal push to include all who serve us, whether we realize that they are serving us or not. These are the "first responders." This seems reasonable to me because I know how difficult I can be after a "bad day at the shop" and I can only imagine what a policeman must go through when dealing with "those they are protecting." After all, who likes being stopped or questioned by a policeman?
I do not want to detract from those who "gave their all," those who have served, those who currently serve or even the "first responders", but I believe we also need to give prayers for each other: that we may serve each other before we serve ourselves and give thanks for every time we see those serving others rather than themselves, whoever they may be.
What do you think of when you think of Memorial Day?
