The current federal estate tax landscape is extremely favorable with a high exemption amount and the recent permanence of portability in the tax code. A ssets can be kept close to the grantor while still receiving the creditor protection and tax savings benefits provided by an irrevocable transfer to a trust.
A Living Trust will minimize both the delays of probating your estate and the expense attributable thereto, as well as serve as an asset management vehicle in the event of your incapacity. A simple ‘cost-benefit’ analysis will help you ascertain if Wills are adequate for your family situation or if a Living Trust has merit
Attention Business Owners: there are new business planning opportunities under the 2017 Tax Act ("The Act"). The Act creates a new income tax deduction for individuals, trusts and estates that own pass-through businesses. The new IRC 199A pass-thru business rules which can save taxpayers significant income taxes.
