Your bargaining team, officers, board members, and staff are committed to winning the best contract possible, and that takes every member being informed and engaged. We’re committed to:
-
Keep members informed transparently of the bargaining process, agreements we reach on proposals, research/information we have that informs the bargain, and more
-
Work with ARs and the Member Communication Action Team (MCAT) to coordinate actions and mobilization to bring more power to bear at the table
-
Represent the priorities of SEA members as reflected in bargaining surveys, prioritizing widely and deeply felt issues
-
Preserve the integrity of the bargaining process by not “bargaining in public.” We need the space to explore issues and potential solutions with flexibility and trust. When the conversations are a work in progress, criticism of ideas that aren’t yet fully formed can damage our ability to get the best resolution possible or even shut dialogue down.
Member solidarity and mobilization will strengthen our ability to win at the bargaining table. Members should:
-
Know who your ARs and/or Member Communication Action Team members are and ensure they have your home email and cell phone number
-
Read your texts and emails to ensure you stay up-to-date
-
Follow SEA on social media (Instagram and Facebook)
-
Participate in actions when asked by ARs or MCAT members
Together we have the power to win what our students and colleagues need. Let’s unite, take action, and win!
Our bargaining priorities
The SEA Bargaining Team reviewed member surveys and narrowed priorities to six general areas:
- Rebalancing our work to allow more time with students
- Pay
- Campus safety and security
- Leave time and leave processes
- Substitute rights and coverage
- Hiring & staffing
