Although there is still uncertainty in the forecast for later this week, we want to inform you of the steps we're taking At Sail Newport and what will be available for your use at the Sailing Center.
HOIST
Hoist hours will be extended from 0800 to 1800 each day this week. Reminder that it's getting darker earlier, so please prioritize daylight hours if you plan to haul out.
TEMPORARY BOAT STORAGE
The Fort Adams South Lot (paved lot by the mast hoist) is available to put boats temporarily with the understanding that:
- You may not pound stakes into the ground to secure boats
- Trailers must have properly blocked tires
- All boats must be removed 36 hours after the storm passes.
The state park folks are nice enough to allow us to do this for our storage customers, and it is crucial that we play by the rules.
If the Shields race happens on Wednesday, there will be quite a crunch here at the sailing center on Thursday and Friday.
CONTINUE TO MONITOR THE WEATHER CLOSELY
Please be vigilant about monitoring the weather. Even if the storm passes by us out to sea, forecasts show the potential for heavy and sustained winds.
We plan to send out another briefing on Wednesday afternoon.
