A Message from the District Attorney...

Dear Friends and Neighbors:

I hope you have been managing to keep warm during the Arctic blitz this week.

Despite weather-related challenges and closures, our office remained open 24/7 processing the many complaints, referrals and arrests we receive every day from our law enforcement partners. Even during a snowstorm, we were on duty working to keep the people of Westchester safe. That will remain true this weekend, when some forecasts are indicating the arrival of yet another snowstorm.

Please travel with caution and check on your neighbors, especially the elderly, who may not be able to signal for help if their homes lose heat or power.

This week, my office secured an incredibly substantial sentence for a child abuser and rapist living in Yonkers. Between 2020 and 2023, Eleuterio Duran repeatedly sexually abused and raped an underage victim. Around a decade prior, he had also raped another woman.

On Tuesday, my office secured a sentence of 45 years in state prison for Mr. Duran. This is among the largest penalties obtained during my administration, and the punishment here certainly fits the crime.

My administration has zero tolerance for crimes committed against children, especially those involving sexual abuse or exploitation. Our Special Prosecutions Division is staffed by trained professionals who handle these matters with the sensitivity, care and persistence they deserve. I review every single one of these cases personally to ensure that outcomes are consonant with the demands of justice.

On another note, on Monday we will be announcing a brand new traffic safety initiative aimed at making our public highways safer places to travel with your loved ones. So please stay tuned for more information on that front.

As always, never hesitate to reach out to me with any questions or concerns you'd like to bring to my attention. I always appreciate hearing from you directly.

In friendship,

District Attorney Susan Cacace

Hudson Valley Law Enforcement Symposium

DA Cacace was proud to stand with fellow law enforcement officials and the four U.S. Attorneys for New York this week.

The Hudson Valley Law Enforcement Symposium allowed attendees to share perspectives on local and regional security and will help strengthen partnerships that keep our communities safe.

Justice doesn't take a snow day!

During last week's blizzard, our ADA Sheila Horgan covered the Weekend Arraignment Part to ensure criminal cases were handled timely and efficiently, safeguarding the rights of our defendants and keeping the people of Westchester safe.

Regardless of what this weekend brings weather-wise, our office will remain on call for all criminal matters from Yonkers to Yorktown!

Holocaust Remembrance Day

DA Cacace was honored to address the Westchester Jewish Council's security roundtable.

Amid an alarming rise in antisemitic assaults, including disturbing reports of an attack on a Queens rabbi on Holocaust Remembrance Day, we must remain vigilant against threats facing our Jewish community.

No one is safe in Westchester until we are all safe.

Information-sharing session

Law enforcement works best when we communicate and collaborate, and that was front and center as the Capital Region Crime Analysis Center hosted an information-sharing session with DA Cacace, her staff, the Albany Police Department, the Colonie Police Department and NYS DCJS.

2026 MLK Basketball game

The District Attorney’s Office is a proud supporter of the 2026 MLK Basketball game. The tournament was held on Jan. 17, 2026, at the Theodore D. Young Community Center. Four teams participated: the Ossining Youth Bureau, the Port Chester Youth Bureau, the White Plains Youth Bureau and the Theodore D. Young Community Center itself.

The participants had an incredible time competing, and we want to express our deepest gratitude to all the volunteers who made this event possible. The players appreciated the Gatorade provided by DA Cacace.
