WEATHERING THE STORM
TOGETHER
Dear Y Family,

Thank you for your patience while we figure out our next steps moving forward. We know that you still have questions, and we continue to work on answers. Closing our doors temporarily was not a decision we took lightly, but one we know is in the best interest of our community. As a reminder, the Fanwood-Scotch Plains YMCA is scheduled to reopen on Monday, March 30 and we will be in touch as we reassess the current COVID-19 situation in our community and country.

Now, more than ever, we need your support. We hope that you will continue your membership with the Fanwood-Scotch Plains YMCA and that we can weather the storm together. We want to continue to be here for our community after this is over, and we can't do that without you .

Our staff is currently working on resources for our members during this time. One immediate resource you can use is YMCA 360 , a new virtual initiative led by Ys across the country. It’s your favorite classes with top instructors now available at home. This site will continue to be updated with more content. Learn more here .
The Fanwood-Scotch Plains YMCA also plans to offer:

  • At home workout ideas
  • Recipes and nutrition advice
  • Family fun activities
  • Tips from our staff members on a variety of topics
  • Community resources if you are in need of assistance
  • Online activities for children
  • Weekly emails and online blog with activities and updates
  • And more

We will be posting these to our social media accounts, Facebook, Instagram and Twitter ; will continue to send out information through emails, and update our website and mobile app .

As we pivot our services for the safety of the community, we ask that you continue to invest in your membership so that we can maintain vital life-changing and life-saving programs at the Y. Your membership supports the day-to-day operations or our Y and without your membership we will struggle to meet community needs. We would hate to see what our community would look like without the Y and hope you feel the same.
Our YMCA is a not-for-profit community service organization that employs close to 400 people and serves nearly 10,000 people in our community. We offer everything from child care and swim lessons to chronic disease prevention programs and active older adult exercise classes. Every day, people of all ages and all walks of life enter our doors, and no matter their background, feel accepted and welcome. We feel our Y has a unique atmosphere - one where toddlers and seniors share high fives, and friendships and families are built.

We cannot express the potentially devastating impact extensive cancellations could have on our Y.  We know there is a lot of uncertainty and financial hardship during this time . We ask that if you can, please stick with us. If there's one thing we've seen through the years, it's that we truly are better when we work together.

If you would prefer to put your membership on hold at this time, please complete this online form and your monthly membership fee will not be drafted until we re-open.

If you have any questions about your Y membership, please contact Susan Mulholland at smulholland@fspymca.org .

Even if our doors are closed, we will continue to be here for you. And we hope to be just as strong when they reopen. Have an idea of tips, advice and activities you'd like to see from us over the next two weeks? Submit it to our member feedback form online and we'll see what our Y experts say.

Please stay healthy and safe during this time. We look forward to seeing you again when our doors reopen.

Thank you for being a part of our Y.
