District Communications shares monthly tips to improve your website in just 30 minutes to an hour. Find an archive of these tips and more resources on the OneOPS Web Content Manager Hub.

Celebrating Quality Work + Steal These Ideas!

As District Communications follows up on website reviews, we want to give a big shout-out to the middle and high schools who are working on or have already completed their recommended edits. Extra credit goes to the South High and Transition Program teams for scheduling in-person sessions.

South High - Pathways Information

Our in-person session with South High gave us an opportunity to revamp their College & Career Academies and Pathways (CCAP) pages.

Originally, the content was visually pleasant, however it was not accessible to all users. Now, the content is easily readable on a desktop, tablet, phone or using assistive technology. Plus, it can be automatically translated for readers who do not use English as their primary language.

How we did it:

Each pathway for each category got its own Table App on the page. We displayed the App Name in the App Options to create the label for the pathway. Within the app, we checked the box to create a header row and used clear headers for each column. Lastly, we set the table style in Table Options dropdown to display the lines and shading.

Check out South High’s Media Arts Pathway page for the full experience.

High Schools – Did you know that we mirror your school CCAP pages on the district CCAP website? Content is shared app by app, so if you add or remove an app in your CCAP section, the CCAP website may not reflect your most recent changes. Email Layne Gabriel when you make edits to ensure changes are reflected on both sites.

King Science & Technology Middle - Course Guides

While many secondary schools are still sharing their course guides in PDF form using the Document Viewer App, King Science & Technology Middle was our first school to work to fully digitize their course guide. By making their course guide available in native text on the site, families can easily find the information relevant to their student and get the content in the format and language of their choice.

How we did it:

Each section got its own Content Accordion App on the page. We displayed the App Name in the App Options to create the label for each section. Within the app, we created a record for each subsection and placed the course descriptions in the relevant record. We also provided the downloadable PDF version in a File Library App at the bottom of the page.

Site Review Updates

District Communications is finalizing notes from the review of our district website. Next up, we will review OneOPS intranet pages followed by elementary schools.
